I thought I read they agreed on $4.8M instead of the full $12M.

As for Georgetown, not sure I see Mack there, but could see him at Butler given his longtime midwest presence.

There was some talk that Louisville was gonna dangle the threat of poking through his time at Ville to find any violations that would allow for him to get fired and walk away with no $. Considering Mack knows better than anyone what they could find, the settlement makes sense.
Also the university could draw this out for a while, and more easily absorb any legal costs in doing so.  There were more reasons for Mack to accept now and move on, and the university generates a lot of money off athletics.

Does Wojo go for Georgetown if it opens? He grew up 45 minutes from there.
Since JT1, Georgetown has kept the HC job "in the family". Once literally. I suspect they will try to do the same if it doesn't work out with Ewing, although I'm not sure what other GT alum have the resume.

The Hoyas have Louis Orr as Ewing’s Assistant Coach , who has been a HC , SH and Siena .  It’s not likely they go that route but , who knows ?  Maybe they pull a DePaul and bring back JT3 for a 2 nd go round ?  Again , doubtful .   Hard to come up with former G Town players who have gone into Coaching to my knowledge .  Which would follow the trend that JT1 set in keeping it in the family .

I can't think of another Georgetown alum in the coaching pipeline, and tbh keeping it in the family has not worked out spectacularly well for them.  I'd think they would look at that and more likely decide to go in another direction.

They might surprise us and give Patrick one more year, too.  I wouldn't, but it wouldn't shock me if they did.  It also wouldn't shock me if he made enough progress next year for them to decide to keep him beyond that, which would probably (but not certainly) be a mistake.

IMO if they give him another year Patrick would be better off reconfiguring his staff and program to get younger and more modern.  I think his basic problem is that everything about his program is too old-school.  But of course he's too old-school to make those changes - which is why I think Georgetown would benefit from a fresh start.

Also I can't see Wojo getting another job in the Big East.  I can see him getting a bottom-feeder in the ACC or a good high mid-major job.  But the better Smart does at Marquette the worse Wojo looks (and he really did kind of suck as a coach).

Could you please expand on what you mean by old school? Not challenging you, just want to hear what you mean? Discipline? Playing style?

A lot of high-level talents who were getting significant playing time bailed on Ewing to go play elsewhere - Akinjo to Baylor, McClung to Texas Tech, Wahab to Maryland, etc.  It isn't as though they were getting buried on the bench, didn't develop at Georgetown, transferred down to star at a mid-major, etc.  They just didn't want to play for Ewing at Georgetown anymore.  Add to that all of the other transfers and after awhile you get the idea that Patrick is having trouble relating to, communicating with, and retaining his players.  Given who he is, what his staff looks like, and the nature of his comments, it sure seems like there is a generation-gap issue there.

From a system standpoint he obviously wants to have a big man-centric approach, which is not the direction the game has gone - the article Fordham posted had some good observations about that.  And despite that Wahab - who is a big man who benefited enormously from Ewing's coaching and play style - STILL transferred, which to me is a huge red flag about Patrick's ability to relate to the players he brings in.

Bottom line is it's obvious he can recruit, and I think he's a good game coach, but the continued exodus of players tells you that either his communication skills are too old-school or the players feel his system is too old school or both.  I lean towards the former, and I think the problem is that Ewing is trying to recreate the way John Thompson coached - those days are gone and it just doesn't work with today's players.

Just my observation/opinion

Significant re making up postponed games deduced from something Stu Jackson implied on a pod cast;

Some news for @PCFriarsmbb fans, looks like none of 3 PPD games can be made up as of now.

Not sure if I'm reading this right. Creighton was leading Xavier 36-19 at halftime. In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Xavier has gone on a 27-2 run?!?

Holy cow.   What a turn around
Second half was Xavier 55 - Creighton 28. A stinging collapse indeed!

Xavier shot 9-12 from 3 in the second half. That’s what having shooters does for you.

PC & Marquette in a very hard fought game in Providence right now. Hopefully that helps us on Tuesday. On the other hand, Reeves is back for PC.

Would have loved too have seen how our fans thought big ten transfers Durham and Morsell compared to the guys we had coming in.  Both leading their teams to the top of the big East standings.

Quality transfers on both teams are difference makers. Envious

Quality half court offenses down the stretch. Both teams well coached.
