Also the university could draw this out for a while, and more easily absorb any legal costs in doing so. There were more reasons for Mack to accept now and move on, and the university generates a lot of money off athletics.Amaseinyourface post=453396 said:RedStormNC post=453395 said:I thought I read they agreed on $4.8M instead of the full $12M.
As for Georgetown, not sure I see Mack there, but could see him at Butler given his longtime midwest presence.
There was some talk that Louisville was gonna dangle the threat of poking through his time at Ville to find any violations that would allow for him to get fired and walk away with no $. Considering Mack knows better than anyone what they could find, the settlement makes sense.

Since JT1, Georgetown has kept the HC job "in the family". Once literally. I suspect they will try to do the same if it doesn't work out with Ewing, although I'm not sure what other GT alum have the resume.L J S A post=453440 said:Does Wojo go for Georgetown if it opens? I can't think of another Georgetown alum in the coaching pipeline, and tbh keeping it in the family has not worked out spectacularly well for them. I'd think they would look at that and more likely decide to go in another direction.
They might surprise us and give Patrick one more year, too. I wouldn't, but it wouldn't shock me if they did. It also wouldn't shock me if he made enough progress next year for them to decide to keep him beyond that, which would probably (but not certainly) be a mistake.
IMO if they give him another year Patrick would be better off reconfiguring his staff and program to get younger and more modern. I think his basic problem is that everything about his program is too old-school. But of course he's too old-school to make those changes - which is why I think Georgetown would benefit from a fresh start.
Also I can't see Wojo getting another job in the Big East. I can see him getting a bottom-feeder in the ACC or a good high mid-major job. But the better Smart does at Marquette the worse Wojo looks (and he really did kind of suck as a coach).

Could you please expand on what you mean by old school? Not challenging you, just want to hear what you mean? Discipline? Playing style?
Second half was Xavier 55 - Creighton 28. A stinging collapse indeed!Phil G post=453595 said:Holy cow. What a turn around

Quality transfers on both teams are difference makers. EnviousNCJohnnie post=453924 said:PC & Marquette in a very hard fought game in Providence right now. Hopefully that helps us on Tuesday. On the other hand, Reeves is back for PC.
Quality half court offenses down the stretch. Both teams well coached.Paultzman post=453926 said:Quality transfers on both teams are difference makers.
