So I guess early claims that the Big East is down are somewhat premature. ;-)

Conference has seven solid teams. Unfortunately, we are not one of them.

The conference has 3 bad teams.  And unfortunately, we are one of them.

Good piece on Ewing in ESPN and the dilemma that Georgetown faces after this year.  Some parallels to Mullin but I do think Ewing is clearly working and recruiting.  In other words he is totally committed.

But bottom line is the results are not there and barring a miraculous turnaround Georgetown will face a big decision this off season.  Fire a legend or give him an extension and let him work it out.

Good article.

Unfortunately I think the issue for Ewing may be that he is just too old school for today's game and players.  He can clearly recruit, and he has done some very good tactical coaching.  Just feels like there's a structural problem with his approach.

Thanks for the article. Ewing has brought in quite a few four and five star recruits, but so many either transfer on their own or have been dismissed from Georgetown for criminal behavior. Having Wahab transfer last spring has hurt this squad, but they are at full strength now and a big effort tonight at Uconn could provide a turnaround for them, as the SH game hopefully provides for SJU.

He was basically giving a two year reprieve after what was supposed to be a really good team in year 3, 19-20.  Year 3 fell apart when half of his team transferred or was dismissed and he had no roster by year end.

I think he had a 2 year plan which was to rebuild the roster last year add another another big recruiting class in 2021 and have a good team in 21-22 (this year). The problem was more transfers out especially Wahab.  That was a huge blow.

Some strange lines tonight.

Xavier favored by 8.5 over Providence?  Looks like a sucker bet to take Providence.  Id go Xavier.

Marquette a 6 point underdog to SH?  Another sucker bet.  Id go Hall.

And Butler getting ony 2.5 vs Creighton?  Ill take Butler

Interesting Chris Mack related fact: None of the former members of the Big East who chased greener pastures are currently in the KenPom Top 50.
51. West Virginia
56. Notre Dame
73. Cincinnati
94. Syracuse
95. Rutgers
113. Louisville
183. Pitt
209. USF

Greener pastures = $$$$$$$$

Speaking of struggles, I just saw an article on how Butler is headed for their second consecutive losing season. That will be the first time in 30 years that's happened at Butler. Hope its not a sign of things to come for them.

Thought same thing about lines. Went with 3 team parlay; Xavier and SH on money lines, and Florida +9.5. As soon as I put bet in, Florida went to +10. Never a good sign.
