Around the Big East

I'm surprised UCONN let go this far, they really must have thought they had a winning case.

Because like most firings "with cause" when the firing school refused to pay the buyout the "with cause" is a just a ploy to reduce the buyout.  Because as is the case here the real reason Kevin Ollie was fired was because UCONN had flatlined and the program was no longer a power.  "With Cause" becomes cover for you're not winning enough but we don't want to pay your buyout so we are going to sling 1000 allegations of misconduct at you and fire you for those reasons.

Georgetown hanging tough with PC. They look like a much better team now with  Carey back. No gimmes in Big East play.

Xavier landed 2022 four-star recruit Desmond Claude, a 6-foot-5 point guard from New Haven, Connecticut, theirs third top 100 kid for 2022

Marquette wins at the Pavilion over Nova 57-54.  5 in a row for them.

Because Shaka Smart is second best coach in the conference.
Pretty clear that Shaka Smart saw what he had with his new-look team, and built a system around that.  57-54 would have been the halftime score in his VCU days.

Anderson, OTOH, told his new look team (paraphrasing here) "forget everything you've learned.  You're going to play my way now."

That's all you need to know about why Marquette is winning, and we are not.

Great job by Shaka but let’s not rewrite history. His VCU teams averaged 64.5 points during his 7 years there. Always been about defense.
Glad I missed this discussion because if anyone asked me how much they averaged, I would have said 82 ppg.

Yes, but trending in right direction.

Nova loosing to GT at the half. If Nova loses again their fanbase, which has been spoiled, may be calling for Wright's head.

Butler up 45-44 over PC with 14 minutes left. I think Butler is mostly back to full strength now.

There is a case to be made that St Johns is the worst team in the big east.

“work in progress”

Shaka really has M’Q rolling on five game win streak, as they beat Xavier at home 75-64.

Envious :)

Saw a blurb earlier in the year that the 10 Marquette freshmen are getting over 70% of the minutes - talk about a bright future.

Long way to go but I can see Shaka winning BE COY.

Add me to the envious list.
