Around the Big East

Since we play #17 PC next week I'd like them to win at least one of their two games this week to ensure they'll remain ranked. Up 10 @ #21 Xavier, could see some nice ranking movement if they hold on.

yeah. bring ucon back into the big east. their women's team will elevate the BE girl teams. ucon is the only BE gal's team in top 25.

Providence comes through with a road win over Xavier 65 - 62.

Big bounce back year for Cooley as Providence moves to 17-2.

The boo birds are out in Newark. Marquette up 28-13, Hall really struggles without Aiken, which is understandable.

This point guard for Marquette, Kolek, does a real nice job for them. Looking forward to seeing Posh on him. 38-21 at HT.

He can’t shoot but he’s as good of a playmaker you’ll see.

Posh or Kolek? /media/kunena/emoticons/cool.png

Wojo had his flaws and certainly did not win enough games but man he could get players.  Couldn't always keep them of course (see Hauser boys).

Justin Lewis is one of those players.  Was a stud in high school and he is big time.  What a line tonight at SHU.

33 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

He deserves a 2nd shot, no? Maybe georgetown or butler.

He'll get one probably.  Needs to pick the right one, I think Smart did.  I honestly think Marquette is a perfect fit for him.  Basketball school, good tradition.

That is the key.  I think Archie Miller, Turgeon and Mack will get chances.  The key is to pick the right one.  Fail again and its curtains.  Tom Crean is finding that out.

Wojo could be an option for Pitt when they fire Capel.
Though that's like firing a guy and hiring his twin brother.
I can't see Wojo getting another shot in the Big East ... but I can see Mack coming back.
Depends on how the game of musical chairs shakes out, I guess.

Big East’s schools would be wise to go after Mack next opening they have IMO. And I’m sure he’ll be mentioned with them all.

Mack to Butler or Georgetown would be a strong move by either school.   He's already done well in the Big East and a small market would be less pressure.    Agree with you on both counts.

I read that Mack has $12 million coming to him.   The school may try to withold some saying it is for cause, and there may be a restriction on him coaching elsewhere.   All is negotiable though, so in the end he can probably take the money and sit, putting his career on ice, or take less as a settlement and be free to take any job he wants (probably not in the ACC even if he was wanted)

I thought I read they agreed on $4.8M instead of the full $12M.

As for Georgetown, not sure I see Mack there, but could see him at Butler given his longtime midwest presence.

There was some talk that Louisville was gonna dangle the threat of poking through his time at Ville to find any violations that would allow for him to get fired and walk away with no $. Considering Mack knows better than anyone what they could find, the settlement makes sense.
