Around the Big East 19/20

DePaul is about to lose. Down 5 with 16 seconds remaining. Leitao is probably sweating through his boxers right about now.

Yup, DP has some ingredients, but no one to stir the pot.

He brought in some nice players and, earlier in the year, I wondered if they would extend him. Not now.

The only way he might survive is because the AD doesn't want the likelihood of their 2020 class to back out of their commitments if he fires Leitao. Otherwise, I think he might be a goner.

Similar to I thought we shouldn't have lost last week's game versus Georgetown.... DePaul, who IMO has a better overall roster than us, should not have lost today's game. Yurtseven wasn't available for the last 8 or 9 minutes of regulation, and DePaul had the lead when he exited the game.

Geo has certainly overachieved with all their transfers and recent important player losses vs SJU and DePaul. They refuse to pack it in. It does look like Ewing is going to raise the program to some sort of respectability.

SH beats Nova on road. Have to respect them. Road warriors.

Hall about to beat Nova and go to 10-1 in Big East and most impressively, 10-2 on the road. Really would love to see them make a deep run in Dance. They are good enough to be a 2 seed the way they are playing right now.
Mamu looks to be 100% healthy today which is huge lift for this team.

As much as I respect what Jay Wright has done at Nova, I’d like to see a changing of the guard as to who is the new standard of excellence in the BE. Of course, I would love it to be us someday!

Good to see Hall take Nova at home. I know many don't like Hall, but I like seeing them do well, except when playing us.

IMO, Villanova has first weekend elimination written all over 'em. I know I could be clearly jumping the gun weeks before the brackets has been released, but they just have that look where they'll be quickly eliminated.

Seton Hall, with how they've played on the road this season, I think they could be a Sweet 16 team. But that's the furthest I'll predict with them right now.

Villanova with its coaching is always a problem for opposing teams.

It wasn't last year. Let's say this, I applaud Jay Wright. I'm a huge fan! But sometimes coaching can't always overcome team flaws. Particularly in situations where other teams coaching is similar or equal and the opposition is simply better.

Love the Big East & the great competition, but no shock if no BE team goes beyond Sweet 16 imo.

Big East tournament's Wed. night matchups should have the Vincentian regulars playing Providence and G'town. Winners will be promptly eliminated the following afternoon.
Wonder if Big East management and Fox Sports have any second thoughts on their choice of UConn, as 11th team, and passing on Dayton.
Conference should get six bids to NCAA and two to the NIT.

Severely doubt either one does as BE has Ohio market covered with Xavier (for ratings purposes) and UCONN provides more historic rivalries. Would not be against Dayton though as a 12th team (my law school alma mater).

They might do better with St. Louis as the 12th team. They are a good program and are an inner city school like most Big East teams and the St. Louis TV market is much bigger that Dayton.

The greater St. Louis area has 2.85 million people, while the greater Dayton area has only about 800,000
