Around the Big East 19/20

Big East continues to strengthen the resume’. It bodes well for our bids at the end of regular season.

I’d be shocked if there was a 15 conference win Big East champion this season. Virtually every team looks evenly matched. The regular season will be savage.

Great win for the BE. Let's hope Providence can duplicate it.

P.S. Why is Cooley dressed up like a peguin? Someone should tell him It's Christmas time, not Halloween.
Nova with a ridiculous attempt at an inbounds up one with 13 seconds left. A panic lob to Gillespie. What happened to setting and using screens, coming to meet the ball? ...
Easier said than done.

Hysterical - I was thinking the same thing about Cooley
On the other hand, CMA should be recognized for being nattily attired for each game
He's a real class act!!

Had you watched the game you would have seen that with 14+/- seconds left Nova successfully inbounded the ball 2 times from under the Kansas basket only to be immediately fouled by Kansas which was not yet in the penalty situation causing Nova to again rebound the ball for a third time. The first 2 inbounds by Nova were to a cutter in the middle of the floor below the foul line. On the 3rd attempt Kansas adjusted their D and took away the cutter. Gillespie was not the first option, and likely not the 2nd or 3rd option.

Do you really think that it is easy to inbounds the ball against Kansas in a contested situation 3 times in a row ?

The Big East now holds a 6-2 lead in it's series with the Big 12
We should be one of the top 2-3 conferences in the country this year
Could only help us if we have a shot at any type of post season play

It’s funny, they had to get it in 3 times as Kansas hadn’t had 7 teams fouls yet. The first two were run pretty much to perfection.

Now gotta do our part tonight and beat Arizona, yeah it will be tough but every top25 opponent is tough. Just find a way to do it for 40minutes.

Setting screens and coming to meet the ball are easier said than done? How do you figure? Basic basketball.

I watched the game, so please can the condescending reply. And you answered your own question. You don’t go to the same strategy THREE times in a row for the very reason you pointed out, it gets smelled out. And if you don’t have a time out to set up a play, you go back to basics, which is screen and the man receiving the ball meet the pass, not float down court away from it unless you are being overplayed or face guarded which Gillespie was not.

Kansas really killed themselves going 4-10 from the line including missing the front end of two one and ones at the end. Nova's last in bounds pass to Gillespie was risky for sure but looked like nothing else was open at least he didn't throw it away under the Kansas basket.

Spot on. This also another product (result?) of Villanova taking so many 3 point shots. Limited movement to the basket resulting in very few fouls on Kansas. But it is clearly the way Nova wants to play and in the end it worked.

And maybe Nova just made a bone headed play. Just my opinion, others may disagree.

Pretty good day for the Big East so far. Looks like PC woke up finally. Maybe we can catch Zona sleepwalking through the game.

Butler up 14 over Purdue at Purdue with 13 minutes left, but two key players (Thompson & Baldwin) in foul trouble for Butler. Would be an excellent win for Butler & BE.

Your best post ever-short and sweet. Didn't have to skip over your usual tome. ;) :)
