Around the Big East 19/20

On a sad note is the recent passing of Mary Fenlon longtime academic advisor to Georgetown basketball. RIP

Providence down by 16 to Florida late in the first half. They can't throw the ball in the ocean. Bad shooting team.

Florida up 25, 72-47 over PC at the U4 media timeout.[/quote]

They are getting beat by 30+. Again Cooley is a terrific coach. He's not going anywhere.

But I cannot understand anyone who has watched them this year and the other 9 BE teams and have not come away with the conclusion that Providence is simply the worst BE team. I don't think it is even close.

Creighton playing well against Oklahoma at home. Up 7 with 2:30 to go in first half

Creighton looks really sharp against Oklahoma right now. They lack in size a bit, but play really well together. Quick to help and switch on defense, nice offensive sets that play to their strengths. They are potentially a top 25 team.

Agree Creighton looks really good. Well coached always and they always have shooters. They need to be bullied a bit more out there I think to take them off their game.

The early NET rankings agree with you. Among the Big East teams, I believe there was a bigger gap between them and 9th place Xaver, then between 9th place Xavier, and 1st place Butler.

Cooley's teams generally do better as the season goes along, but they are going to need some positive results soon. They looked offensively challenged, to put it kindly.

According to the announcers Providence was picked to finish fourth in the B.E. Their whole game is throwing it into the paint - Watson or Young, terrible, terrible shooters. Johnnies will squash the middle, let them throw as many threes as they want.

Not to be overlooked...Creighton's win last night clinched at the very least a tie in the Big East/Big 12 battle. We're up 5-2. Not a bad showing at all.

Remaining 3 games are #1 Kansas @ Nova, Texas @ Providence and Xavier @ TCU.

Would think that the Xavier game is the best chance to clinch the win. Although Nova gettting Kansas at home is a nice opportunity . I refuse to discuss the absolute dumpster fire that is Providence right now.

Wednesday, December 18th:

6:30 PM - Western Carolina at Xavier (91%) - FS1
7:00 PM - DePaul (89.3%) at Cleveland St. - ESPN3 (streaming only)

Xavier is a decent team but nothing says unbeatable to me. Just sayin.

Looking at Xavier and DePaul box scores tonight noted that both are playing only 7 players with each team playing 4 starters for over 30 minutes and each on them had quite a few turnovers. Will be interesting when they meet 40 minutes of hell with our use of our full team.

Yep, considering our most-used player is Figueroa at I believe a little over 27 minutes per game. We really keep people fresh and bring waves of players. I do believe that this is by far our biggest strength this season and likely moving forward.
