Around the Big East 19/20

Still no word on why Powell is not on the bench. I didn't really see anything in the first half other than him taking a hard charge and hitting the deck in the opening minutes.

Seton Hall has been awful but I am not sure they are completely out of this one yet. One of the most disjointed offensive efforts I’ve ever seen.

Sure looking like a bad loss for Xavier against Wake. Down 10 with 8 minutes to go.

Casual Hoya
Terrell Allen as Georgetown's starting PG: 31 points, 21 assists and just 4 turnovers. Georgetown is 3-0.

Who has played soundly, made the right passes and hit the open shots in their last 3 games.

Willard said Powell has "a pretty bad concussion."
"He asked me during the game, 'Why are we practicing at Rutgers?'
During a timeout his eyes rolled into the back of his head

Willard did say Powell is starting to come around, so it doesn't sound like he's in immediate jeopardy. Still, concussion protocol ahead.
Just horrible fortune for Powell and the Pirates. Season has come up snake eyes so far.

Rutgers is scrappy and defends well. Johnnies & Rutgers imo both have to be locked in defensively to succeed. Both are well coached teams.

I remember when Powell took a very hard charge early on thinking wow hope he's ok. That could well have been when he took the hit to the head. SH having tough luck for sure so far. Xavier is a very flawed team to me this year. Not a great bench and not really a lot besides Marshall & Scruggs who are very good players for sure. Jones is a good rebounder and shot blocker but such a liability at the line.

Unfortunate yes. But, they were getting whipped with Powell in the game. SH never showed up today and they better turn the page quickly. That was ugly.

Willard is good at running cons. Remember a few weeks ago Powell had a bad injury and was going to miss several games. Magically he was back for next game against Mich St.

This maybe different but he is good at running those head games.

Watching some of the BE teams in action thus far, I am more optimistic about our ability to compete at a high level in conference games. We'll see soon.

I’m pretty sure we will. We have enough talent even though it isn’t a plethora. What we do have is depth, good coaching, a lot of versatility and some decent frontcourt players which we haven’t had in the past. We also play hard and at a good pace. I also think our PG by committee is coming along well enough to be solid. Dunn is getting better every game, and Rutherford is solid and a good defender. We will be getting Steere soon too which can be an X-factor for us possibly, especially against team with size.

Seton Hall out of the top 25 already before conference play and now 6-4. It's not crazy at all to suggest they are no lock for the tourney. Very early but this is what I've said all along. They had Powell the first half. This was an overrated SHU team from the start and couldn't win a close game against real top 15 teams. Going into Maryland game now with their backs up against a wall. Lose that and then they need 12 wins in conference play and several wins in the BET if not the championship to make the tourney. Never bet on Seton Hall...that's one thing I've learned over the last 5 years. They had their years and they couldn't truly take advantage. Too bad...screw them I want to be the only relevant major basketball team in the area. Let's take advantage of them fading in the spotlight.

He spared us the 10 paragraph version but he did get his points in :).
