Remaining squad;

6-2 Mac McClung
6-3 Jahvon Blair
6-3 Terrell Allen
6-3 Jagan Mosely
6-8 Jamorko Pickett
6-11 Qudus Wahab
7-0 Omer Yurtseven
What. A. Mess.

Not to get joy from the misery of others but I have no idea how they're going to hold up when Anderson is pressing them with 10 well-conditioned guys for 40 minutes. Do they have anyone red-shirting they can call in?
More to that point, we should absolutely give them particularly 40 minutes of hell. Both because we can and should but also because it’s Georgetown...;-)

Odd statement. I can’t figure out if he loves or hates Georgetown.

Seton Hall Is a three point favorite at Rutgers tomorrow.

Odd. A top 20 team shouldn’t be that close, even with the NJ rivalry factor. Mamu being out doesn’t help but that’s a tight point spread.

Given the injury to Mamu whatever’s his name and the fact Rutgers beat Wisconsin plus the game is in the RAC I can’t say I am surprised. I think Rutgers has a good chance to win this game.

I don’t think it’s a slam dunk to throw dirt on G’Town just yet . They still have a talented squad and 2 7 footers . McClung might be better not having to share the ball so much with Akingo , who often incurred Ewing’s wrath by chucking it up or , driving to the hoop when Teammates were open . No doubt Akingo is skilled but , undisciplined . If I recall , Akingo went to the Hoyas because Arizona didn’t have a schollie open for him last year .

Saturday, December 14th:

12:00 PM - Southern at Butler (98.7%) - FS1
1:00 PM - Syracuse at Georgetown (61.1%) - FOX

2:00 PM - UIC at DePaul (92.5%) - FS1
4:00 PM - Seton Hall (52.7%) at Rutgers - BTN
4:00 PM - Xavier (54.3%) at Wake Forest - ACCN
8:00 PM - Stony Brook at Providence (86%) - FS1

After today, there are no Big East games until Tuesday.

All the more reason to press them ALL day long when we play them. Press em until they really feel their lack of depth.

Start pressing 'em as soon as they step off the bus.

Totally agree. Wearing them down real early and making them pay by utilizing our depth will be important, especially without Akinjo. MacLung also doesn’t love pressure. We can buy a few wins if we do that and go hard on the boards. It’s where our depth and conditioning will serve us best.

G’Town seems to have 7 strong scholarship players. So they are not a push over. However, G’Town traditionally, and Patrick is a disciple of John Thompson, that they can’t call them all. They are now a 7 man team and they cannot be that aggressive. My guess is Coach MA is going to up tempo them and roll in waves. I think fouls will be a big issue for them. They don’t have enough bodies. Just a guess.
Hoyas up 48-36 at half.
Georgetown has been shooting the 3-ball well in their past 2 1/2 games, and that's been one of the main differences in their play since the initial loss of Akinjo and LeBlanc.

Syracuse is also playing into G'town's hands by keeping the game at a respectable pace for a team who is really only going 7 deep. Those 7 players are quality players, but if Syracuse starts to better attack the basket on the offensive end and speed up the pace of the game then fatigue and foul trouble could start rearing its ugly head for the Hoyas.

Elijah Hughes for 'Cuse is a balla.

How is it those two were allowed to play under the circumstances?
Something funny about this whole situation!

Ball moving so much better for Hoyas without Akinjo. Less talent (which means a lower ceiling) but clearly a better team than earlier in the season. I do think this Syracuse team as well as the SMU team they beat are both pretty mediocre but the Hoyas undoubtedly look better.

Agree with Dinkins that Syracuse is playing a very dumb game here. Gotta draw more fouls on them or make them run. Boheim seems content to let his two guards just jack up threes. Hughes looks great and in the 2nd half he's just been watching Buddy and Girard jack up shots.

Expect we are going to match up very well with this Georgetown team. Aside from the obvious decision to press them and speed up the tempo, I'd like to see us have Roberts, Steere & Sears all get some time guarding Yurtseven who is skilled but who I suspect we can wear down. Would also like to see Rutherford & Dunn covering McClung who I believe they can turn over from time to time.

And hopefully draw fouls on Yurtseven, who is prone to do so.

They are a combined 8-18 from 3. Their problem is they have no guy to get them easy buckets inside or to beat up on the offensive glass.

Syracuse doesn’t have the speed or the athletes to push the tempo. They are tailor made to be beaten by a short handed team.
