Around the Big East 19/20

Per Matt Norlander;

CBS Sports again inquired with Georgetown on the current playing/availability status of Galen Alexander and Myron Gardner. The school, citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), neglected to disclose.

To be clear, FERPA has nothing to do with whether or not the basketball program and Patrick Ewing have or have not opted to institute any kind of discipline toward either player. This is a stall/blocking tactic schools sometimes use as a shield.

Shouldn't be that great of a surprise. Same school recruited Michael Graham, Allen Iverson and a few other shady characters over the years. Just win baby.[/quote]

To be fair we live in a glass house and shouldn’t be throwing stones. We have had our fair share of characters over the years

All the more reason for us to be disgruntled haters...;-)

With six minutes to go gritty Butler up 10 on road at Ole Miss. Baldwin, a BE first team all BE type guy imo is killing it. Kid is a warrior.

Baldwin is incredible. Tough as nails and makes big shots. That’s the type of PG we need at SJU. Posh has that toughness for sure. We’d be lucky if he has half Baldwin’s skill package.

Butler has been extremely impressive. That's their 4th win over a P5 school, and they're still undefeated.

Butler's RPI is now 21, and I think their NET would be even better. Their 4 cupcake games were all won by 10+. As for the other 4: vs Minnesota was an 8 point win, vs Missouri (neutral) 11 points (10+), vs Stanford (neutral) 1 point and @ Ole Miss 9 points. The only one of those 8 that the NET wouldn't reward (relative to RPI) would be the 1 point win vs Stanford, but even that is still a great Q1/Q2 win.

I'd guess their NET would currently be around #10-15, but even better than that wouldn't shock me. Shame that the NCAA keeps the formula hidden.

Big night for the league tonight, with half the teams playing against overall solid competition.

Perhaps, but we already have a 3-1 advantage over them this year (taken from a Holy Land thread). I know we'd be framed as 0-2 rather than 3-3, though.

Thanks wasn't aware they split it like that.

There you go Moose. Causing trouble again. ;)

Depaul will show whether they are a pretender or it tonight. Interesting game.

Nova looks like they are going to take a close one from Penn. Nova with lots of length and of course well coached, but for the first time in several years no real go to guys. I'll be surprised if they win the BE this year.

'Nova not out of the woods just yet. They're up 70-66 under 3 minutes remaining.

Our former coach LAVs just said that besides Georgetown & St. John's any of the other 8 teams are capable of threatening in the BE. Interesting.

Goodman

Both Galen Alexander and Myron Gardner playing tonight for Georgetown despite the recent allegations.
