Around the Big East 19/20

Lets see the reasoning and let see him get eligible for game 1 next year

Hell! The extraordinarily, inconsistent NCAA may allow him eligibility the remainder of this season like a professional player (of course, I'm being sarcastic).

I recall he officially visited Arizona prior to surprisingly selecting GT.
That's correct! He also visited Cal, San Diego State and Oregon State before his trip to Arizona.
I thought he originally committed to UConn before leaving once Kevin Ollie was let go.

He did commit to UConn and left after Ollie was let go. We were referencing the schools Akinjo visited after his UConn decommitment.
Fair to wonder the impact on the staff and Ewing if anything here.
They must have thugs in H.S. don't think they'd start that in college if they were good young men before college.

Maybe they just didn't get arrested before college?
If so then Ewing has some explaining to do if he didn't do back ground checks.
They do back ground checks for recruits, correct? I'd think they do so this type of bs doesn't embarrass a university.

Initially I wouldn't think Ewing could survive this at school like Gtown that prides itself on elite reputation, but flip side I can't see school throwing him under the bus and letting him go with this as the reason vs. lack of W's, at least until season end.

Who would JT call next ?

Agreed. Georgetown just put out a very mushy, vague statement about "taking all allegations seriously and in a way that's fair to both sides, blah, blah, blah..." If the university found that these allegations were credible then why were these guys playing? If the allegations aren't credible then they're essentially calling these women liars. Rock and a hard place for Ewing here. This could turn on him (and the AD?) very quickly...

Ewing may stay put.... You just never know, particularly with John Thompson still overseeing the program. But if Ewing eventually resigns or the school decides to let him go, then I would go in another direction outside of Thompson's lineage.

Based on how things have been going at Georgetown since Thompson retired, the next call could be to his son, Ronny.

This sucks, and I feel bad for Ewing and the hoops program.

On one hand I think many of us think, "phew...nice to not have drama around our program for once". On the other hand, if this is all true, that's a real shame for Georgetown and Ewing. To be honest, I don't see Ewing as the answer at all. Yet another great player that just is not a good coach. Go out and get a real college coach while Georgetown still has a good reputation as a top notch job. They're like UConn fading fast in the prestige department. We need a strong G'Town for a strong Big East. Big blow.

Hope Ewing survives. He is a dedicated basketball coach and, even if he mishandled this issue, I do believe he is a solid role model for college athletes.

As noted many times we need multiple strong BE teams and, prior to this incident, GT seemed to be on the upswing.

Not sure what to make of the whole Georgetown mess. I think Patrick Ewing has been a class act for a long time. He deserves every benefit of the doubt. However, what he and the school administration knew about what was going on And action taken will be questioned, dissected and put under the microscope.

Hopefully for him appropriate actions were taken immediately. If not, it’s the type of thing that could really stick to him. I bet this was the last thing he thought he would be involved with. I guess we will have to wait for the facts to come out.

Except if Ewing knew (and I have a hard time believing he did not), it is more than simply "mishandled this issue." This is very serious. It isn't like Memphis allowing Wiseman to play.

Another cautionary tale to other former stars thinking of returning to the program they became icons, and trying to revive it.

I am assuming Gtown has a process for handling this kind of situation - eg, investigate thoroughly before taking action against the players. So Ewing could have known quite some time ago and was still following the proper process. He's not a novice- he spent 15 years as an assistant coach in the NBA before going to the Hoyas. I'm sure he's seen all kinds of tough personnel issues along the way.
