Around the Big East 19/20

North - he's noting what our roster would already be like next year, not this coming season (assuming no transfers).

How long has it been that the roster was that solid a year in advance? There isn’t much size but the season is a over a year away.
I have no clue why you haven’t listed Dunn who should have a very solid senior year as well as Toro who truly feels a need in the middle. Both of those players will be key contributors though I am not counting on Toro for high scoring numbers, rather boards, solid interior d and some blocked shots.
I think he was listing the guys who will be on this roster for 2 plus years. Dunn is a senior.

My apology I read it incorrectly.

You guys say these names and then act like that so show in itself makes them really good. SJU's roster is full but that does not make it particularly good. They will be picked at or near the bottom of every pre-season poll. I understand that doesn't mean they will finish there but what that means is very few objective people are impressed with this roster.

This roster needs to be upgraded significantly for this program to get into top tier of league. Full roster is not as important as having 6-7 really high quality players. 3-4 All-League type of players. This roster is not close to that. Don't confuse having a full roster with a great one. Georgetown has a full roster going into this year, almost everyone will pick them last or close to last

I agree here. Staff needs to land some big fish. Long way to go recruiting-wise so Riley not an end-all by any means, but can’t keep losing prime targets. Our roster is not where it needs to be.

It's logical to be anxious but imo, it's too early to press the panic button or be hyper-critical for losing Riley or the fact CMA has yet to notch '1' in the win column for the '21 Class.
Yes, our roster for the '21 - '22 Big East wars needs to be infused with 3+ solid Conference-level players, but why wont CMA and Staff achieve that?
He loaded up with 2 AC's with deep NY roots and he and TJC have roots and links in the SE, SW, and with Juco's.
We're better structured and primed to attract solid+ recruits currently than we've been in years.
It's difficult for me to be patient--but i think that this time, it's the right temperament to exhibit.

At this point, it's not even clear if they'll be a 2020-2021 season. But if there is, I am pretty confident we will be in top 6 of BE and competing for an NCAA bid. We will see who is right as time passes. That's what makes it fun.

Hurley's pitch

https://www.google.com/amp/s/w...gidm2ejaj5jx5gjp5uensby-story.html?outputType=amp

“He just challenged me,” Diggins said. “I like his intensity. He challenged me by saying, ‘It’s a gutsy move, turning down ‘Nova to go to UConn in the same conference, when that’s a home-town school.’ He just pushed me. Every time we got on the phone, he’d say it: ‘You’ve got to have [guts].’ ... I think I’ve got some.”

UConn’s pitch was on point. The chance to play in the Big East, where his family, in New Jersey, can travel by car to most of his games, was a big factor for Diggins, as Hurley continues to capitalize on the new conference affiliation to gather East Coast talent — and from his rivals’ neighborhoods.

Well time for us to step it up! UConn killing it already and no business we shouldn’t be. We have a fast-paced style, a winning head coach. Time for us to start landing some big talent! No excuses and long way to go in this class.

I’m fine with it. I think we have a better coach. I just want to compete and see us have enough talent to compete at the highest level. Like I said, still a ton of time to land some very good players in this class, but too notch HS kids falling off the board fast. Just need 1 or 2 to get it rolling.

Should make it easier to recruit against them for Cuffe B)

We eventually will need to land stud. Coaching up 2 and 3 stars will only last so long in Big East. Fans will become impatient finishing in middle of pack every season.

And let's dispense with this nonsense that kids are scared off from joining good programs because there are kids ahead of them on the roster that they will have to compete with for playing time.

UCONN has Jalen Gaffney who will be a Junior after next season and RJ Cole, who just transferred in from Howard after being the MEAC POY, he will be eligible after sitting this coming season out as a transfer in 2021-21 the same year Diggins comes in.
