Around the Big East 19/20

Villanova just landed Top 100 4⭐️ Jordan Longino this past week and expected to land 3⭐️ PG Angelo Brizzi in the coming days.

Another Italian pg who runs the team flawlessly and sticks around for 4 years. I cant take it.

Yup, Nova's sweet spot. A PG rated about 125-130 nationally who will fit their system for 4 years. Wright does not worry about 5 stars just high 3 star and 4 star players who play within his system.

And let's dispense with this nonsense that kids are scared off from joining good programs because there are kids ahead of them on the roster that they will have to compete with for playing time.

UCONN has Jalen Gaffney who will be a Junior after next season and RJ Cole, who just transferred in from Howard after being the MEAC POY, he will be eligible after sitting this coming season out as a transfer in 2021-21 the same year Diggins comes in.[/quote]

Cole is eligible this year

Big East is putting together a MONSTER class.

No surprise to see Diggins go to UConn, that was known for a few days now. 4 star Brizzi will likely commit to Nova tomorrow. Nova is expected to get several more players and has the #3 overall class even before Brizzi's commitment.

2021 class rankings:
#3 Villanova
#12 DePaul
#17 Butler
#31 UConn
#39 Xavier
#41 Creighton
#46 Seton Hall
#49 Georgetown
Marquette- not ranked but have the #101 player in 247's own rankings. He's not yet in 247's Composite rankings for some reason.

Some posters were telling me last month that there was still plenty of time left for recruiting, but the 2021 classes are filling up quickly as they always do by this time of the year. 9/10 other Big East schools have major commits already. Providence is the only other Big East school without a top recruit.

I'm glad to see the rest of the Big East recruiting well. They are our allies.. for the most part. Our recruiting hasn't been good (on paper), but I still much rather compete in a strong league.

I can't help thinking about Batman

Always detested UConn & fans. Hurley is also too wired for my taste. That said, I always respect results and he and Kimani have over last two years assembled a lot of talent & planning a solid base for continuous success.

CMA knows the challenge of developing a talent stock in a power conference and have to assume he will continue to put the building blocks in place to compete in the talent laden Big East. Recruiting, including attracting transfers, throughout the BE is on fire portending great success nationally.

UConn talent matrix to date FYI;

I stand corrected, he transferred a year ago. Point still applies since he has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Duke boosters would cry bloody murder at a class like this.

2021 - 1 player so far, #6, but apparently #1 is also a lock for Duke
2020 - 4 in top 28
2019 - 3 in top 29
2018 - 4 in top 15 (3 in top 5)
2017 - 4 in top 17 (3 in top 7)
2016 - 4 in top 14 (2 in top 4)

You get my drift. Pretty crazy.

Can someone post a “relax, just cause every big east school has monster recruits coming in 2021 there is no need to panic yet. Coach mike and staff are hard at work scouring the local ymca and playgrounds for any kid who will accept.”

Thanks, i need it.

Correct. Duke changed their philosophy years back and is now a one and done program. And because of that, villanova took their old model and is more successful.

Aah, so Duke is the new Kentucky! That makes sense.

And Kentucky is the new Rio Grande Valley Vipers, or maybe the Knicks.

Wright has earned every bit of the kids he is now able to consistently land. On the flip side, there will be an even bigger bullseye on his team now. When speaking on rest of league, Wright is always humble in his interviews, but it's going to be an evenhard sell for him to talk about his team's inexperience etc. as he has in recent years.

Rather have Nova at the top than Uconn.

I'd like St. John's to be knocking on that door by the '23 - '24 season. I hope that's being patient, and hope it's achievable.
