Around College Basketball

Sources: Two Ivy League schools are highly unlikely to play men's hoops this i year and it's possible the whole league won't play at all.

"I have a feeling it would be the whole league isn’t going to play," one Ivy League asst coach.

Multiple sources say @HarvardMBB won't play this year, and at least one other school is on the fence.

If there's 5-6 teams, the league would still play, sources said.

Virus is going in the wrong direction. I afraid we may hear more of this.
Fear not! I've been told by several of my neighbors and co-workers that Covid will be gone entirely in a couple of weeks. They also told me that JFK Jr is alive and well, and that he was to make some earth shattering announcement yesterday when he revealed his tragic death in 1999 was a hoax.

Not a surprise really. Ivy hoops isn't a money maker for the league and their schools don't need the cash to survive.

Take money out of the equation and its not a hard decision to make if the epidemic is trending in the wrong direction in your area of the country.

I'd prefer to see them play each other four times and not play any OOC schedule, as opposed to not playing at all.

I hate to see no college basketball but if teams decide to play what happens when a member of the team or coaching staff come down with covic than all the members are sidelineD until that member test neg. Would seem crazy to start the season when a vaccine is so close

Dear usguard sorry to burst your bubble but a vaccine is anything but so close. If by close you mean 6-12 months ok, I can accept that. But nothing is happening in the next few months.

How the hell do you know when a vaccine will become available? What are you credentials? Most likely political pontification by a blowheart.

Wait until after early November to see what COVID does. It may just suddenly become "much less" of a risk.

Interesting thought. I assume that will happen in the rest of the world as well? And not just conveniently in the USA after Election Day as you seem to be suggesting? Seriously? The whole world is conspiring also?

Yes. Didn't you know? India, Russia, Iran, Brazil, UK, Italy... all faking it up to this point to sabotage the US election for the Dems. Day after the election they announce a miracle cure that doesn't just wipe out COVID immediately, but brings all the dead back to life.

The family member I lost (husband of my brother's wife's sister) earned his Bronze Star in Nam. Doesn't feel like a hoax in my family.

I'm sure around November 1, it will suddenly just disappear. ;-)

Of course the virus won't end after Election Day. Nobody said that. Also it is fake news to say that anyone ever said that the virus was a hoax. What will end will be all the shutdowns in Democratic controlled states.

No reason for the personal attack. I can also vouch for both north having legitimate, scientific insight on this issue.

Another thing to consider is that even once a vaccine is out, it's not like everyone will immediately be vaccinated. Nor does it appear enough doses will be available for everyone immediately. It's going to be a timely process to even get to that point. There are still many details we don't know about how the rollout will even occur.

Thanks Paultzman for putting this thread back on the rails. It was quickly being sabotaged by another unnecessary political debate on a college sports forum!!!!

Al, first off I am Canadian as almost everyone knows so I am not sure where the political pontificaion comes in ?
I personally have no such credentials but for the past 24 plus years I happen to be married to a Dr who specialises in infectious diseases, who has been working in the pharmaceutical industry a little over 20 years. At present she is the Canadian Medical Director for a very large US pharmaceutical company.
I hope I have responded to your question.

Even if everyone could take it, I'd still wait. Want to see the affects it has on others before I take. Yeah, it might help against getting covid-19 but could it harm any part of the body?
