Around College Basketball

Don't know if already mentioned, but I read Charles Minlend has left San Francisco Dons and will play his last season at Louisville, projected as a reserve wing.

Charles Minlend was a really smart guy. I think he was a 4.0 student. His son is smart enough to flee Californiamageddon.

Alabama gets commitment from #1 PG and #9 overall 5* JD Davidson. has been compared to Ja Morant and Russell Westbrook. Nate Oates killing it on recruiting trail his first 2 classes. Has been some whispers of a G League jump.

Not sure Louisville is all that great of a place these days either . . .

Didn't see this posted but

The Basketball Oversight Committees is likely to recommend the D-1 Council vote next week on winter sports getting additional year.

“It should pass based on precedence with fall sports.”

Kind of odd making that declaration now before a season is played. Lets see how it transpires. Might make roster construction pure madness next year.

That's true but that's an even bigger issue in college football, where a team could be adding 25 new freshmen (a typical freshman sized class) to a squad that could potentially return up to 85 scholarship players next year.

Many schools are going to find it very difficult to potentially fund 110 football scholarships next year, especially if the pandemic continues into next season and most stadiums would be without fan attendance again.

Wasn't aware Football was part of that. Figured they were treated differently but its true. I don't think the NCAA thought this through. Then again why should I be surprised.

Don't at all get the rationale for including football, which seems to being doing relatively fine. Besides, isn't football considered a "fall" sport? And yes, making a decision on other sports right now, especially basketball, makes little to no sense.

All of a sudden the mass exodus of transfers they had after last season makes more sense

Did he have mass transfers before very recently? It's weird that previous teams were OK with him acting like that. Even weirder if being nutty was a relatively new thing.

I guess now he'd better hope they don't fire him. All those years of passing on bigger jobs, and now those bigger jobs would all pass on him for a good long while if he gets cut loose.

Makes you wonder if maybe some skeletons in his closet was why he never really left in first place. Unsure if he could get away with it at higher level?

Welp, now we know why so many players suddenly transferred! Creighton fans must be loving this (not the abuse obviously but the fact that they may very well stink after Marshall is gone).
