The Atlantic 10 is petitioning the NCAA to allow players that are redshirting this season limited participation without jeopardizing a full year of eligibility to help combat COVID roster shortages.

I was wondering thinking about this during our pause wondering if the NCAA would make an exception this year to allow guys like Drissa to play say up to four games due to COVID roster shortages.

Isn't he walk-on Tom O'Connell's brother?

Yes. If Pinzon gets the chance to play more he would be as good as O'Connell who is a Sophomore imo.

And Pinzon is a better shooter than Mike O’C

Anyone see the Chicago Loyola/Valpo games last night?  It was a double ot thriller.  Great game.

Chicago Loyola is off to the best start in team history.  Only lost 2 games which were both single digit loses to Mich St and Auburn respectively.

I said it in another thread but if we miss the tourney again this year, we need to put some serious consideration into looking at Drew Valentine.  This is the young, hotshot coach we should take a chance on.

I was dying to watch last 10 minutes of it, especially since I threw a few bucks on Loyola getting good odds when they were down 10. I don't get CBS sports but followed game live on Draftkings. One hell of a comeback in last few minutes of regulation.

I had tickets to see Davidson host Loyola of Chicago the week before Christmas and was looking forward to seeing Loyola play. Unfortunately, that game was another COVID casualty...

this is what I posted on another thread about Drew Valentine.
As a fan and close follower of the Loyola Chicago program for several years now, there is a lot to like about Drew Valentine, but he is achieving success largely with the roster Porter Moser had assembled, including with 4 super seniors, and running much of the same system Moser runs.  I think the next couple of years will be crucial to his development, and with Loyola moving to the A-10, let's see its level of success then.

And in no way do I think we need or should move on from CMA until it is readily apparent we must.  We are far from there yet.

I agree one million percent, not just about Valentine but in general.  Coaches who are successful over the long term lay a foundation.  When they move on and an unproven assistant takes over, it is not unusual for the assistant to continue to have success for a year or two based on the foundation that they inherited.  The test is what happens when you get to year 3 or 4.

At St John's we saw that movie with Brian Mahoney.  It went the other way at Pitt when Jamie Dixon inherited a machine from Ben Howland and wound up keeping it going in his own right.  At the moment I think it's an unknown which way the Juwan Howard experience is going to go at Michigan (at the moment it's tipping in a Mahoney-ish direction, though I would be surprised if he doesn't figure out how to right the ship).

But IMO when you look at an assistant who has taken over somebody else's program, you just don't know what you're looking at for a few years and it isn't wise to jump to conclusions.

Great observation, MM52

Missouri has let go of basketball head coach Cuonzo Martin.

He had  a 7-8 current season and 73-64 overall record at Mizzou.

Remember when you never saw college coaches "let go" during a season? Has become just like professional sports as has the coaches salaries.

In my regular TV channel surfing I had hoped to catch Isiah Moore and rasheem dunn in their respective games.  Neither are in the lineup, perhaps due to covid.  Might be able to see Roberts against iona tomorrow.

Dunn left the RMU program a week or so ago
