Lots of good college hoops to watch today for a change.

Creighton - Marquette at noon
Nova - Hall at 2 on CBS
Also Baylor - Iowa State at 2 in match of 2 of 4 remaining unbeaten teams
Providence - Depaul at 3.

What a difference a year makes for Iowa State. Last year 2-22 record. This year 12-0 with numerous quality wins under first year coach TJ Otzelberger. Wow...

Boy, I don't know about everyone else, but I am really jealous of these schools that are getting to play.  Will we ever?

Former Hoya James Akinjo leading #1 Baylor in minutes played and assists, third in scoring.

But that's impossible. I don't believe it. It takes 3-4 years to begin to turn a program around.

But WHEN????

Otzelberger has WOn every where he’s Coached .  As a Assistant and head Coach .   Iowa State did well under Hoiberg . And , before that Greg McDermott . I was surprised to see he was their Coach back in 2006.     He’s  suppose to be a great   Recruiter .  And , highly regarded in the BB Community .   He’s also only 44 years old .  Recruiting for a big school , like Iowa State , is different than recruiting for St John’s .    He’s a Coach on the way up , given his age .    Don’t know if he brought in Transfers or high school recruits .  But , he’s doing something right .

Just checked and it looks like 5 of his top 7 are transfers. Sure did a great job of getting them to play together right off the bat!

I don't know why, but he was not successful at UNLV. When he departed, the school was content to promote his top assistant, Kruger, jr., at a lower salary and pocket the million $ payout from Iowa State.

Speaking of DePaul, our old nemesis Charlie Moore is having a nice game Cuse tonight.

We joked about Charlie Moore being on his 4th team in 6 years transferring to Miami from DePaul.  But he has been a really good pick up, Canes just beat Duke at Cameron to go to 5-0 in the ACC.  Last two games against Cuse and Duke he has 43 points combined.

The Atlantic 10 is petitioning the NCAA to allow players that are redshirting this season limited participation without jeopardizing a full year of eligibility to help combat COVID roster shortages.

If this gets any sort of momentum and all the schools are working for it, you’d think the ncaa would be hard pressed not to make an exception.

College football allows you to play up to 4 games in a season and not burn a year of eligibility would be nice if college hoop followed suit.

Makes a lot of sense to me
In football, you can play 4 out of 12 games (1/3 of the season) and keep the redshirt
In basketball, you play about 30 games
Why not let kids play the same 1/3 of the season, (10 games) and keep the redshirt
Seems reasonable to me - more kids might be amenable to redshirting this way
