Looks like maybe Rutgers was accepting platitudes a bit too soon as they lost their 5th straight to winless in the BIG10 Penn St to fall to 7-6.

So here is a riddle. How do you describe Rutgers when they stop playing like a big time program and start playing like well Rutgers again...?

No riddle just that Rutgers hit the lottery in terms of financial payout, academic enhancement, and visibility when it was offered membership in the Big 10.  The last I knew the Big 10 per team pay out was substantially larger than the other P5 conferences.

St Johns esque.

Bryan Trimble scored 25 this week, 7 of 14 from 3 pt. line.  Game prior had 18 and also shot 50% from deep, 4 for 8.

Quincy Guerrier of BrookwoodElite with 20 points and 9 boards for the Orange, I begged the prior staff to offer him.

Jose Alvarado lighting it up for G Tech at Virginia. 20 points so far 10 to play.

Stanford with OT win over UCLA.  Michael O'Connell is starting and playing big minutes (41 today).  Wild finish, Stanford won on a basket off of inbounds play with .8 remaining.

#BREAKING: Michigan health department to suspend @UMichAthletics for two weeks after student athletes test positive for B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant. A student athlete was the first confirmed case of the new variant in the state.

Story from @ethan_sears to come.

Not a Chris Mack fan, but glad he and Louisville gave an L to Duke & K today.

And Coach K is getting ripped all over Twitter for how he answered a student question after the game in his typical D-bag like self.

Conference tournament week is a highlight to every season. It gives every team a chance to dream. Big East Tournament quarterfinal Thursday is my third favorite day of the season, right behind the first day of the NCAA Tournament and Selection Sunday. But this year there should be no conference tournaments, as much as it pains me to admit.

This season has been all about getting to March, about playing a tournament COVID-19 eliminated last year, about the big money March Madness produces at a time athletic departments are hemorrhaging cash.Conference tournaments would not help that endeavor. If anything, they would hinder it. It’s a risk the sport does not need to take.By not pushing the tournament back, by having the First Four on March 18, and the first round on March 19 and 20, the NCAA eliminated any wiggle room.

The major conference tournaments are all scheduled to end on either March 13 or 14. The turnaround is just not long enough to withstand positive tests, especially since the NCAA has mandated that every player and coach on a team must test negative for seven consecutive days prior to traveling for the tournament. I’m sure there will be a few conferences that could create somewhat of a bubble for their postseason tournaments, but that doesn’t seem feasible for everyone. What does seem likely are teams contracting the virus, and having to miss the Dance, creating chaos.

NCAA revenue for 2020 down 50% due to pandemic-forced cancellation of basketball tournamentSTEVE BERKOWITZ | USA TODAY | 2 hours ago

The NCAA’s cancellation of last season’s Division I men's basketball tournament because of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a $600 million annual decline in the association’s total revenue for its 2020 fiscal year, its new audited financial statement shows.

Jeff Neubauer Fordham HC fired

I wonder if Van will get a call with his A10 experience, recruiting ability. Is his time there with Tom Pecora a detriment or not?

obviously I hope he stays here

It is with great selfishness that I say I hope they go in another direction.

If Fordham had waited one day they could have fired Neubauer on his 50th birthday. Aside from that, they should have fired him months ago and hired Pitino. Would have been the biggest splash they've made since Neubauer was two months old.

Alvarado's growth has blown me away. I watched the kid for 4 years at CTk, and while he was extremely talented, I didn't even think he was a high D1 level talent. Let alone that  he'd go on to be one of the best players in the ACC. Kudos to him for all the work he's put in to elevate his game, especially his outside shooting.
