Around College Basketball

Nebraska basketball pausing as 12 people in the program including HC Hoiberg and 7 players have the virus.

Also Frank Martin HC of South Carolina is sitting out due to the virus.  Believed  to be the only coach in America to have gotten the virus twice.

Great stat

Today's poll is the 1,213th in AP history and just the 14th time that Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina are all unranked. The last time that happened was on Dec. 18, 1961 - when only 10 teams were included in the AP Poll each week.

Schadenfreude in effect
saw some of the Duke/BC game last week.  Announcers were whining about how much Duke was missing Coach K.  And started commenting on a struggling freshman and how the opposing fans were all over him.  Suddenly the subject was changed...

Former Johnnie Bryan Trimble had 19 points in Akron's 95-94 upset of Toledo. Averaging 10 ppg in 26 mpg so far. Looks like transfer was a good move and that he has found the appropriate level of competition for his skills.

I have wagered a couple of akrons games. He has been hit or miss.  But as long as his miss was when i went with under i was ok lol

Trimble transformed his body.  Looks a ton leaner than even his final days with us. Was listed at 220 with us, now listed at 185.

Credit to him for putting in the work.

Bama on road at 10-2 LSU up 60-32 at halftime. Have made 14 (14-19) threes with John Petty hitting his first 7.

Justin is as productive as Julian, maybe even a little more so. But he has a completely different game and on-court personality.  Not a criticism, just an observation.

My other observation is that Duke is no better than St John's, and apparently nobody but Creighton, Nova, Gonzaga and maybe Michigan seem capable of playing a clean game this year.  So much bad basketball.  Yikes.

Justin Champagnie has 25 points & 11 rebounds w ten minutes to go w Duke trailing Pitt by 6. Justin could very well be ACC POY if he finishes strong.

Since I know you scallywags are hanging on the end result final score was 105-75 with Bama finishing with an SEC record 23 threes (and that includes walkons and end of bench players finishing up the last 10 minutes when spread was in the 40's).

What Oates is doing there is nothing short of spectacular

Pitt beats Duke and Justin Champagnie had 31 & 14. Was 12/15 shooting with 4 threes

Justin finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds in the Pitts 79-73 win. Definitely a more vocal and demonstrative player than Julian on the court.  Real bright future for the twins

Both brothers could conceivably make first team all conference in ACC and Big East.  That's a crazy thought, considering both were vastly underrecruited.
