Not a Chris Mack fan, but glad he and Louisville gave an L to Duke & K today.

And Coach K is getting ripped all over Twitter for how he answered a student question after the game in his typical D-bag like self.

At the Duke-Johnny game at MSG a few years ago, I was sitting amongst mostly Duke alum and students who had all paid threw the nose for the tickets. Even then, there was a lot of chatter amongst the fan base that K's best days were behind him. I can only imagine what they're saying about him now.

Jeff Neubauer Fordham HC fired

I wonder if Van will get a call with his A10 experience, recruiting ability. Is his time there with Tom Pacora a detriment or not?

obviously I hope he stays here

Neubaur was a punk for running up the score Mullins first year here.

I'll get pilloried for this, but imho there are a lot worse examples in major college basketball coaches than Coach K. I've always admired the school for its academics and the basketball program for being able to compete with the big boys (state schools) for a long time. Coach K is clearly not perfect in either attitude or ethics but there are far worse out there.

It’s the “thou shall do no wrong” that I can’t stand. But by snd large you’re right.

Jose Alvarado lighting it up for G Tech at Virginia. 20 points so far 10 to play.

Alvarado's growth has blown me away. I watched the kid for 4 years at CTk, and while he was extremely talented, I didn't even think he was a high D1 level talent. Let alone that  he'd go on to be one of the best players in the ACC. Kudos to him for all the work he's put in to elevate his game, especially his outside shooting.

Another one of your great evaluations gone to pot! (Edward L. Norton).

I take this w grain of salt but from Zags;

Names in the mix for the Fordham coaching position:

Tim O’toole
Matt Langel
Jared Grasso
Steve Lavin
Kyle Neptune
Mark Taylor

A grain of salt? I need my entire bottle of blood pressure medication to believe this! Somehow, I don't see Lavin as a fit up in Rose Hill.

The job is a career killer. Lavin is perfect for it, because if it kills his career, he goes back to broadcasting.

Anyone else who goes into it needs to be able to swallow their pride and go back to being an assistant somewhere to rebuild their rep.

I would go Kyle Neptune from that list. I might reach out to Holloway first to see if he's ready to move up the ranks a bit.

Anyone who can turn that program around will have HUGE offers in the future.

Definitely would never reach out to Van Macon. He's not ready./media/kunena/emoticons/cool.png

One of first names that popped in my head was Kimani Young. Have a hard time thinking that a current head coach with any upward trajectory would take that job, they might have to try and strike gold with an assistant trying to get his first gig.

Our friend Mr. Pitino is in the news today a few times.

Firsthttps://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Global/2021/01/25/Pitino-Mashburn.aspx]Pitino, Mashburn Group In Talks To Buy French Basketball TeamAn American investment group that includes Iona men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino, former NBAer Jamal Mashburn and former NBA Exec VP/Basketball Operations Stu Jackson “is in talks” to buy French pro basketball team Elan Bearnais. Pitino said the group’s “goal is to buy an NBA franchise and move it to Seattle,” and acquiring the French club would give it an opportunity to “test our ideas on a smaller scale.” Pitino on Saturday said sale talks are “in the early stages,” but he expressed optimism the deal will go through. If it does, Pitino said he would “be involved in setting up the sporting operation” for Elan Bearnais, but would stay at Iona. Pitino also said the group wants to use a cryptocurrency-based system of ownership with the French club, so “fans can partake in ownership of the team.” Pitino: “You buy a token, let’s say for 10,000 dollars, that corresponds to a percentage of the team” (https://www.lequipe.fr/Basket/Article/Rick-pitino-replacer-pau-au-sommet/1216028]L’EQUIPE, 1/25).

Zach B:

Jeff Beubauer made around $650,000 - $700,000 annually. Average coach in the A-10 makes upwards of $1M. Source says Fordham is willing to pay more than Neubauer, depending on the candidiate.

The first thing Fordham should do is withdraw from the A-10. They are not serious about competing at this level and should find a more suitable league that more closely aligns with their budget and facilities in order to be competitive

At least I actually spend time in high school gyms. When was the last time you were in one big mouth?

Monte, where you the poster on the site that has a Sister who went to Duke and sat with her in the VIP seats behind their bench at MSG when we upset them in 2018?

They should have done that first. Then they could probably have kept their coach./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

Again;

Oregon men's basketball program has paused all team-related activities because of COVID-19 protocols.

That's an interesting choice. The Fordham coach is going to definitely have to be a great recruiter and be known locally. They should probably reach out to every high major assistant who grew up in NYC.
