Around College Basketball

Source tells @WDRBNews that The University of Louisville has received a response from NCAA to school’s response to its notice of allegations. Response will be made public Monday

The NCAA has always closed their eyes when violations of an elite school have become public in order that the elites don’t get upset enough and disband from the NCAA and form their own conglomerate. Now they are even proposing a rule in college basketball that the elites will be able to grab any recruit they missed who has blossomed while playing a year or two as a low or mid major without sitting out a year.
Yet with all their efforts it is beginning to look like the elites are finally asking “ what exactly does the NCAA do for all the money” they grab and are going to disband.
Knight Commission Recommends FBS Split From NCAA
The Knight Commission today recommended that the FBS "split from the NCAA and form its own system of governance." The Knight Commission spent the past year "studying the current state of college sports before making its recommendation." The group surveyed D-I leaders before "deciding that the oversight of college sports is due for a major overhaul." The proposal "would leave the 130 schools that participate in FBS-level football to form a new governance structure." The NCAA "would no longer be responsible for overseeing the enforcement of rules, determining eligibility or creating health and safety guidelines for FBS football in this structure" (ESPN.com, 12/3).
As Enright said, change is coming. I've been predicting a Power-5 split for probably 3 years now. Has been a lot slower coming than I thought.

The fact that it only applies to football actually ends up as a win for NCAA too. As you said, this in football was inevitable. But I believe we were both predicting, a long time ago, that they'd take their basketball with them. Pleasantly surprised this was not part of the recommendation.

Can never get too excited about a game on tap for obvious reason.

Zags were really irresponsible this past week

Good win

Iona gets the first win of the Rick Pitino Era, upsetting Hofstra on the road 82-74 behind 33 from Isaiah Ross.
Wacky scores tonight -

Mcneese beats Dallas Christian 140 - 37
Guess the defenses were practicing social distancing.

Gonzaga pausing all basketball activities through Dec14th due to Covid

Georgia Tech blew out Kentucky 79-62 yesterday. I think that this year, coaching, maturity, and teamwork are going to determine who wins the National Championship.

Teams like Nova and Creighton will be in the mix because of their point guards. The teams with players that place team goals before personal accolades and draft position, have the best chance of success in the present environment.

Looking forward to see how this season plays out.
