Watching the end of the Illinois - Maryland game at MSG
Maybe it's just me, but it pisses me off that the Big 10 is playing a regular season game at MSG
Attendance was only 7,200. Sounds like a resounding failure.

Watching Kentucky vs Kansas , neither of these teams are prolific shooting teams. They have to score in the paint or on the break. If they get matched up in the NCAA Tournament against a mid major that has good ball movement and can nail the three they can be upset. Remember that all you gamblers out there.

Shaka Smart with another loss today. His career record at Texas is now 61-59.

He was one of the hottest names in the mid-major coaching ranks. Replaced Rick Barnes who now has the #1 team in the country and had a coaching record of 402-180 while at Texas.

Smart has made two NCAA Tournament games (one with Barnes’ players).

I do think Smart can turn it around, he does have a good recruiting class coming in next year, but fans can’t be happy with what is going on there. I don’t think they imagined they would be in this position when they hired him four years ago.
Owens, 4 fouls, 0 points tonight. Still baffled by him wanting to leave
Finished with 2 points, 3 boards and 5 fouls in a narrow win over a weak Arkansas team. TT at 16/4 on the season. I can understand someone wanting to leave to Improve their lot in their mind but this is not working out as planned. His stats have only decreased.

Watching Syracuse at Va Tech. ‘Cuse In orange, Tech in dark pink uniforms. The colors are distinct, but not dissimilar. Wouldn’t be surprised if turnovers are up in this game.

Buzz 40, Boeheim 19, under 2 in the first.

And by any chance, was the B10 logo on the floor?
Not sure. I was pissed right way and changed the channel

Angry or drunk? Or angry drunk?

Va Tech up by 15, 57-42 over ‘Cuse, 8+ mins left in game.
VT looks good in very ugly ‘outfits’.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing recently. He has recruited some huge names but if you look at what Rick Barnes did there and what he has done since he left Texas at UT it is hard to see how Smart in almost 4 years has been an upgrade. I think he will find a way to sneak UT into the NCAA's this year.

But my guess is next year becomes a huge year. He is looking more like a Steve Alford type hire at UCLA.

Auburn @MS State a good game. MS State up bu 11 ~4mins left. Holland a good coach.
Interesting, Mustapha thrived at AUB.
He will do that at SJU also.

Former SJU commit Samir Doughty playing very well for Auburn and primed breakout next year. His shooting %s are impressive to say the least.

Yes, Samir looked good.
Rutgers with the win over Penn State.
Unless a miracle happens, Chambers will be fired at the end of the season
Penn State is 7-13 with an 0-9 record in the Big Ten
Plus he was suspended for a game for inappropriate conduct towards a player
Start the bus........

Watching a replay of this Kansas vs. Kentucky game. Kansas without their 2 big men look much like SJU. Their lack of size and depth hurt them here. Not impressed with either team. Kentucky looks their usual self of athletes but not basketball players.
SEC/Big 12 Challenge extended six more seasons
I am a big fan of these Power 5 conference match ups. But, if I had my way, I would rotate them so that, for example, the Big East would compete against the Pac 12 one year, the Big 12 the next year, etc.

While I love the Big East, there are times I miss the "good old days" when we played more of a variety of schools from different parts of the country.

__________

It is fortunate for the Big East that the Power 5 is not the Power 6 or else the Big East may be left out of the pre conference match ups and then find its teams scrambling with the A10 and the America Conference.
