They lost to Kansas State on Tuesday night by 13 to drop to 15-4 with 3 losses in a row. Tariq had 12/6 in 33 minutes of play. They have lost a ton of players as of late and have a very thin bench.
We will see if they are a lock to dance.
Well right now almost all the mock brackets have TT about 5-6 seed lines better than SJU so they are certainly more of a lock than SJU is. Keep in mind too, TT lost 5 key seniors off of last year's Final 8 team. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for TT. They have far exceeded expectations. This is not a rebuilding year for SJU, on the contrary, this was supposed to be the breakthrough year at SJU.
Fordham You so rarely have anything good to say about St. John’s and jump at any opportunity to say something negative. Amazing

What? Saying a team projected to be a 3 seed over a team projected to be a 10 seed is evidence of being negative? Read the posts after talking about how SJU blew it by not being able to keep Owens, were they positive?

BTW-What do you define as positive? Lying?

Nothing Fordham said is even disputable. Again, "negativity" is such a misused term. Being negative is when you win the lotto and complain about your life being ruined after spilling ketchup on a $5 shirt. That's a negative person. When you state facts that don't make us look good but are true, that's not being negative. The Jets haven't won a SB since 1969. That sounds bad...is it negative? No...it's a disappointing fact.

I watched that game keeping up with Owens.
Owens is 10th nationally and first in the conference with 47 blocked shots and on the Naismith Defensive Player of the year list. Whether he started or came off the bench I think we danced this year with him. It turns out he was a big loss. TT goes 8 deep but I agree that they are no longer a lock because like St. John's their remaining conference schedule is a killer.
I think MZ made his comment before the consecutive losses.
I agree his loss was very big and just trying to point out that the grass was not greener. I too believethatbhis loss was key and had he stayed we might be undefeated today and did not require 12/6 from him nightly to be undefeated.
It was not MZ who predicted that TT is a lock but rather Jack Williams.
We will see, a lot of bball to be played for both teams.
I disagree about Tariq. I wish him well, but with all due respect his #this year with TT are v close to what he did with us last year, playing 30mpg with us versus 24mpg this year.
How’d we do with Tariq last year and who the heck would we have denied a ship to, to keep him? Heron or Figgy?
I could be wrong, but didn’t Tariq’s departure get us Figgy, and Yakwe’s got us Mustapha?
I think we’re a better team with him this year with Figgy and Heron than we would’ve been with Tariq and Heron.
He averaged 5.9 TRBs / g with us last year versus 5.2/ g with TT this year.
How’d we do?
This year, IF Ponds gets healthy and the team plays like one, we are dancing brothas!

You just go out of your way to find a negative outlook. That’s all I’m saying. Texas tech is slipping there way down so mock drafts that had them as a 3 seed are not accurate anymore. You dig at St. John’s by saying this was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Texas tech and compare to St. John’s. There really is no need to do that. So yea you find anyway you can to negatively spin things.

Hey Zaun you are negative even when you try and say something positive so I don’t expect you to agree with me.

Wow. Headed to the dance...

First, what does disputabity have to do with negativity? I can call my 5'6 200 friend short and fat and complain about being up to early in the morning at 5:30 with all being objectively true.

Second, everything he says is either an opinion or prediction--which I guess falls under opinion as well.

Third, he is one of the most most negative fans on the SJU forums and a well known contrarian.

How about we stay on topic and avoid negative interpersonal posts.

Saturday there is a full slate of Big 12 - SEC challenge games highlighted by Kansas vs. Kentucky. Texas Tech plays Arkansas. Both games at 6 pm.

Interesting contrast with the bracketologies, that were updated today.

Lunardi has us as a 10 seed (and one of the "last four byes"), while Palm still has us as a 7 seed.

There usually is not that big of a discrepancy, although I would argue that either one is preferable to being an 8/9 seed.

I just want to get in regardless of seeding even though it obviously helps to be lower. It feels like we are so overdue to win a 1st round game since it's been almost 20 years. Streaks are meant to be broken. If we get in, let's hope the basketball gods don't injure a key player or have them do something stupid right before the tourney for once.

As it turns out, there is no question we could have used Tariq this year. However, he is gone and his decision to leave looks pretty much like a wash for him. He's a good kid who played hard for us, but we have both moved on.

Watching the end of the Illinois - Maryland game at MSG
Maybe it's just me, but it pisses me off that the Big 10 is playing a regular season game at MSG

My second favorite team (Davidson) just beat St. Louis in a thriller 54-53. St. Louis had two fouls shots down 1 with .4 seconds left and missed them both. Hasahn French had an excellent game for St. Louis.

And by any chance, was the B10 logo on the floor?
