Let’s be real, this is Greg St Jean team and we’re paying 2 million plus a year for the “Mullin” name brand.
It’s like when Diddy and Ciroc was starting. People felt like ciroc was a good drink but it wasn’t that known in America. All of a sudden, Diddy has it in all of his promos, shows, etc and BAM!!
Ciroc is now a name brand drink.
Greg St. Jean is learning about recruiting ( Jordan Brown and these Summits), he’s already calling most of the plays. This is the St. John’s version of the “process”.
The only reason Mullin hasn’t officially checked out is because it will be tough to convince SJU trustees, Board of advisors, the NY and Long Island media and these young recruits that a high major program is being runned by a 29 year old.
So In conclusion, our “coach” did show up to the events.
Quite some take on the situation!
It's like staying at a Trump hotel but Trump just leases his brand name.
Unfortunately, you may not be that far off base. Mullin and Richmond never planned to make this gig a long term relationship. Mullin as much as said so when he envisioned turning the program around and "handing it off" to a successor. It sometimes appears that GSJ has yet to hand it off to Mullin. I will leave it to the positive "spin" group here to explain what is "really" going on. It is perplexing that they who see us going in a postive direction can't contribute some opinions in this case. I personally think that regardless of who is minding the store that Mullin will voluntarily step down next year if he fails to sign the top targets and miss the dance. This job was not a job for novices.
