Religion and Politics. That forum was an enter at your own risk. But it was a blast. Met some of the nicest people there. And many were the ones I would spar against often.
Officially Religion and Politics, unofficially Rape and Pillage.
Rape and Pillage preceded the Abrahamic religions by thousands of years. Religion has never been the problem, human behavior and our inherited defective psychological defects have tarnished both religion and politics.

So clearly Luca deputized for Mullin who missed because of the death in his family. Remember non coaches can be deputized in that way. Condolences to him on that.

As for the other coaches?

Did someone else die in the family? His aunt, Sister Mary Terence, died a month ago.

Someone on jungle posted that as if it happened this weekend. My bad for thinking they had the right info

This past weekend Mullin and Richmond has appointments with their plastic surgeons in California.

Why don’t we hold off on speculating or making jokes about deaths in people’s families until we know more. I think Mullin may have a close family member with a serious illness.
Was Matt at any of the tourneys this past weekend or only Virgilio and St. Jean?
Matt had legit reason for not being out. No fault with him this weekend

Agree. Our 'nature' can turn and has twisted the best ideals into pure poison.

That's a clown comment. You're better than that.

and what, he didn't care for them?

There is no speculation. Mullin had a 95 year old aunt who was a nun pass away March 30th. I don't think anyone made any jokes about it unlike some cretins here who criticized Steve Lavin for taking too much time off when we played Syracuse at the Dome when his dad passed away or made cancer jokes when he has complications. You see, even when we have known more, it didn't stop some fans from being asses.
I wouldn't wish a serious illness on anyone, let alone a family member, so don't even inject such a thing in this discussion. I think some people are asking legitimate questions about Mullin and Richmond and nothing has been publicized regarding their respective reasons for being absent. With Lavin it was up front and some of you accused him of playing the sympathy card. With Richmond and Mullin it is the radio silence that feeds the rumors. Thus fans make jokes. If you or anyone else has solid information without invading the coaches privacies then say so. Both coaches have had issues with their children so that could be a reason for the silence but either could have just stated they are tending to family business and much of this B.S. could be avoided.

It was meant to be a clown comment and no, I am not better that that. It was the best I could come up with at the moment. I will do better with my next clown comment.

My post came off as an attack on you. For that I apologize. That is not my style. I didn’t like when people went after Lavin during his cancer battle and for taking time off when his father died. Those things, along with marital issues imo, should be off limits. I don’t like to discuss people’s medical issues. My point is, if there is a hint that that may be the reason he is not out recruiting, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt until we find out otherwise, In this case, it could be a legitimate reason.

I didn't take your post personally in the least.
As for Chris and the April recruiting grind it is common knowledge that he has been absent from these events in the past and the present absence is not an anomaly. Regardless of what has been put forward here both Chris and Mitch are fine as are their families. I happened to have known that his aunt had passed and that the entire Mullin clan including Mully's wife and children came together to celebrate her life as a wonderful aunt and devoted nun.
Mullin has been around and seen but is not actively involved in the April recruiting showcases. It has frustrated a few people but he is who he is. Folks here should be more concerned with the disconnect by Mitch Richmond with almost all aspects of coaching except during the season when he works on individual skills. That, my friends, is a complete waste of a full time AC position. Certainly a Kimani Young would have been a better investment but a young hungrier coach got him.

Agree wholeheartedly on the Mitch comment. You don't have to be an "insider" to have a negative view or thoughts on his lack of involvement in recruiting. Perhaps he helps (or has helped) with the recruiting sell, and perhaps player development is somewhere he adds value. But you don't need to know the inner-workings to be baffled by him seemingly not being mentioned anywhere on recent recruiting visits or at events. If we had someone out recruiting in that spot in place of Mitch, I think the staff discussions on this board would be much less. Mullin while not at some events folks think he should be at certainly has been highly visible for in-home visits with key targets and interactions with their families, and with kids like Gaffney it has been stated publicly by his family that Mullin has been a big part of the recruitment. We know what Matt does and we know what Greg does, and having Greg there more for his coaching abilities is fine if you have two recruiters out on the hunt constantly instead of one.

As, I believe one poster recently asked (paraphrase), "Why can't they all be out there recruiting?" Ask yourself this.... Who is allowing Richmond to pull this act?
