"The history here at St. John's has always been strong in New York City and I guarantee you that you'll see me in the gyms all around New York City. You don't have to tell me where they are because I've played in all of them. I think it's very important that we dominate New York."

Well to be fair I guess he didn’t say anything about going to National Recuiting Events :)

A "Management Analyst" at recruiting events in place of HC and some AC's?

He probably analyzes that his manager does not do his job.

How many academic scholarships equate to Mullin and Richmond salary ?

Seems like university is getting bent over.

Virgilio: Hi, AAU Coach... my name is Luca, I live on the second floor... I'm from St. John's"

AAU Coach: "Oh that's nice... Is your dad around... I used to be a huge fan of his. Would love to meet him"

Virgilio: Sorry, sir.. that is not my dad. He is my boss. I am his management analyst"

AAU Coach: " Haha... I don't know what's funnier, your job title, or the fact that your a sub .500 team in Power Conference trying to recruit top talent against the Big Boys and your biggest asset is a no-show for all these events. Take a look around and see who else is here. Step up son"

Virgilio: "Thank you sir.. I will be writing up my analyst report and sending this in to management for evaluation"

To be fair to our staff , they had 3 official visits last weekend which resulted in 2 commitments. I would say they had very valid reasons for not being off campus last weekend. And from my reading of the board most are delighted with 2 of the 3 very recent commitments.
As for this weekend 2 of our coaches had very important doctors appointments either for them personally or members of their immediate family that they could not miss.
They are not slacking.

Thanks for this info Redmannorth. As I said on my post on this subject "maybe there is an explanation...". You just gave it. Family always comes first. Hope everything is OK and our key targets understand why staff couldn't be there in force.

If coaches are dealing with serious medical issues with themselves/family, that obviously has to come first and i take back anything negative i've said. Hope everything is ok. A good lesson i suppose in keeping my trap shut on the internet without full information.

Jay Wright, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, UCLA, Pittsburgh watching Team Rio — five-stars Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis, ESPN 60 Aidan Igiehon, guard Jalen Gaffney.

As I have said the April periods are not the be all. And obviously if they have legitimate medical issues then that is certainly a valid excuse. So I am not as worked up as others. Couple of things though:

1) The visits last week were during the week, the verbals came prior to Saturday.
2) You can deputize, as they did this week with Luca, a non assistant to go on road as a temporary recruiting assistant replacement. They could have done that last weekend as well.
3)This staff needs to be working 2x, 3x as hard as everyone considering the lack of success in getting local kids. I mean when you see Jeff Capel and Danny Hurley all over the RIO kids it makes you wonder how hard the SJU staff is working.

Wish them or family well....

but question remains.

We technically have four coaches. One is there, three are not. If two have personal / family, that still leaves one unaccounted for. This one plus the DOBO....

Management Analyst fill in is minor league

Let's just go from March to May on the calendar and hope for good health for everyone

That would explain everything! Thanks! Do you have doctors notes for the boys for the previous 4 weeks?

I believe the Gaffney Family have been on the record that CM has been very active in watching their Son’s play since 9 th grade and that a favorable relationship has existed since then with the Player and family . And, as for the more Local talent , many of the Players and their Parents have acknowledged a favorable impression for Mullin and Staff , in the Recruitment process . And , i believe one of our Posters here, Panther, was forthcoming in saying the level of Local Talent available currently is not at the ability level it was in years gone by . I hope i have posted Panther’s post correctly in that regard. And , its a simple fact that many Players locally , as has existed before , want to play outside NYC at different colleges . That’s not Mullin’s fault . Ponds has been the best Player in the local Area in the last 3-4 years and Mullin got him . Let the Recruiting season play out , see what further Players commit here , value the additions for 2018-19 and look forward to seeing what happens .

The excuse that kids want to play outside of NYC was never made for the prior coaches, I love how it has become the mantra now suddenly.

And the above does not even remotely explain some of the poor recruiting now.

Lastly, my favorite line from people who have little to offer is "let's have this season play out."

These kids will likely sign early.
I think Shamorie is the only significant early signee since Mullin's arrival.
No reason for any of the staff to be wasting their time this spring/summer.
