Any more talk of moe staying or going?

Did he mention in the press conference whether or not he hired an agent?

For all the posters wondering whether Moe is gonna hire an agent or not.... Forget about it! I believe he's all in when it comes to going to the NBA. Of course, he has until April 10th to back out, but I doubt he's gonna turn around and come back to St. John's.

Pretty much like I thought. In the end, this could be a win-win for both parties involved. Lavin and the staff showing they can get players to the "Association" rather quickly, and Moe getting a chance to expeditely live out his dream.

good luck moe!! it actually looks great for lavs and co sending another man to the NBA!!!
i have a really good feeling about the overall talent level for us next year,..... it going to be through the roof with many more options that dlo from 3 and moe for the wing!!
best of luck my man

Have to say thanks and good luck to Moe. I wish he was sticking around for another year, but the kid showed some stones when he took a chance on St. John's and he's doing the same thing again. I'm grateful for what he brought to the program. He helped get this thing re-started.

As for next year, it definitely puts the ball in D-Lo's hands. With the returning talent and the incoming class, we should improve upon this year's performance.

Well if zagoria says so...............................

I think he would be better off if he stays 1 more year. That said, I will root for him regardless of what team he ends up with..

says something about the changes over the past couple of decades when draftexpress only has 5 seniors predicted to go in the first round (and three of those five being the last three picks in the round)

Wish Moe the best but wish we had him for another year. Would love to see him a knick but without trading that would mean he got pushed to the second round. Not sure where his best fit is at the next level (team wise - position he is a 3 imho)

I understand your sentiment Upstate, there is a loyalty element to this equation, and there are players who choose to return because of a sense of commitment to the team and their goals.
But here, I don't think there's anything wrong with Moe's decision.

He's not ready for the NBA, but how many guys in this class are ready?? 3? 5? Not more than that.
And we're not giving NBA team's enough credit here.. they are a lot more patient than we think, especially when giving out 1st round guaranteed money. Look at some of the other wings/combo forwards that went in the middle of last year's draft:

13) Markieff Morris
14) Marcus Morris
15) Kawhi Leonard
18) Chris Singleton
19) Tobias Harris
26) Jordan Hamilton
30) Jimmy Butler

Moe fits right in with that group. None of them are blowing up the NBA. Their teams didn't expect them to step in and be big contributors right away.

Here's the problem with that thinking though. The Morris twins were both lottery picks and had just one year of eligibility left. Singleton was also a junior. Jimmy Butler was a senior. Leonard is a productive member of one of the NBA's top teams, playing 24 minutes and averaging 8 points and five rebounds.

Obviously Harris and Hamilton made wrong choices based on their draft status and playing time.

Are you REALLY making this proclamation after 45 games of his career, and a season in which there was no training camp and coaches weren't allowed to work out players in their facility during the offseason because of the lockout?? Jeeze.

Best wishes as you continue your career! Look forward to following you in the NBA!

Now that Moe has declared can we change the title of this thread to Thank you, Congrats, & Best Wishes Moe!

My point was really surrounding Harris and Hamilton specifically... in response to everyone who says Moe isn't NBA ready... neither were Hamilton or Harris and yet they were both drafted in the middle of the first round.

I don't think there's any question that Moe doesn't play a lot next year, but I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily. Teams don't expect 19 year olds to step in and be big contributors.

everyone should be cheering this guy on as much as possible and selling how good he is and going to be.

At this point if he gets drafted and makes it big then we are seen as a pipeline to the NBA with the tools for developing players, if he ends up in the D league then we not only loose out on a great player but we have nothing to pitch to recruits.

Good luck to him, any money he makes should be substantial and he has to do what is right for him. I don't pretend to know his financial situation and believe these kids should be able to go pro any time they want, including right out of H.S.

I'm surprised by the rush to declare, it is still unknown who else is coming out and it's nice to project him right now but the fact is projections cannot be made yet.

I hope he is getting good advice and he limits any "spreading of the wealth" to his family.

As far as memories, I guess I'll have a few but personally not much. This season was always been about future seasons, by leaving this early Moe will be a fading memory when the team returns to prominence next year. Other than looking back in a few years to think about how much Pointer, Greene, etc. have improved when we are deep in the tournament there won't be much from 2011/2012 to want to remember.

On balance I can see why it's a good decision and wish him nothing but the best, but I clearly see he is giving up a lot too, just watch the faces of the kids in the tournament - you are only young once. SJU is heading to those years straight away and for Harkless sake I wish he could have had more team success as a freshman than he had. Clearly not his fault, he did his part but the timing was not there, he will just miss it.

Go get them in the NBA!

Yes to both. Can they turn into very good players? Absolutely. But considering that they had multiple years of eligibility left and now are glued to the bench after not being a top 10 pick, I think they might regret giving up one more year of playing for a pair of big time programs, especially Hamilton, who has played in just 16 games and less than 10 minutes per and didn't even averaging 10 points per game in the d-league. If he would have come back he could have jumped 10 or 15 spots. But hey, he got drafted so it's ok.

At least Harris could view himself as a borderline lottery pick and is making more than a million this year, despite the fact that he plays less than 12 minutes per game.
