Anderson and Demeo's Lawsuit updates?

P

Pitno getting hired has nothing to do with anderson’s claims. It’s like Anderson saying I might be guilty but look who the school hired he has been worse than me.
Anderson should ask for his money based on the contract. Hiring Pitino and bringing it up in his lawsuit is a nonissue. Looks like he’ll go scorched earth. He really is coming across like a jilted lover! Lol
I never said Pitino's hiring had had anything to do with Anderson's claims. What I said was St Johns should just have paid Anderson what he is owed and avoided all the legal hassles. By saying Coach Anderson was being fired for caus, St Johns opened the door to look into all coaches' behaviors. This has nothing to do with Pitino himself, just the way the school went about it.

Right, cuz Musselman runs the cleanest ship in the docks...
Yeah but if you look at their careers in coaching, Musselman is squeaky clean compared to Pitino especially relating to character issues and shady recruiting practices and paying players using third parties.

Nevertheless, Pitino is a great coach and he wins at a high level and no doubt will do so at St John's.

Plus with NIL the illegal inducements become legal.
Pitino's recruits at Louisville were already getting up to six figures prior to NIL making those type of inducements legal and thats not to mention the strippers and hoes and other "enticements" off the record.

No jury in arbitration. Most likely a panel of 3 arbitrators, one of which will be hand picked by SJU. Not sure what claims are asserted, but step one would seem to be to try to get the demand for punitive damages knocked out on an early motion (because that remedy is unavailable for a breach of contract claim and/or because whatever claims are asserted to support it are facially deficient). Once that is accomplished, there is very little downside in continuing to arbitrate the $11M breach of contract claim (although, if the school loses, it will likely have to pay MA’s attorneys’ fees and pre-judgment interest at the rate of 9% per year on the $11M).
I'm aware there is no jury in arbitration, but thanks for providing the other details. It appears to me that Anderson's side is trying to push sju to the negotiatibg table in arbitration. My guess is that ii is not binding arbitration and that the hearing adjudicator would urge both parties to come to terms. Being that SJU is in no hurry to part with large sums of money to settle this will likely drag on for a while.

Considering terms of both DeMeo‘s lawsuit and the CMA lawsuit - does one settling first effect the other? If SJU wins vs DeMeo doesn’t that help CMA?

I would be shocked if SJU did this without having something or multiple things of substance. But then again, it wouldn't be the 1st time that SJU shocked me.
was thinking St. Johns most likely has evidence and I guess a friendly phone call to Demeo who is suing anderson is going to help us. Demeo's own lawsuit proves that what anderson was doing was wrong. Lets connect those dots. SJU has an excellent law program so im not worried. The law program probably has more big east wins then our basketball team did with anderson. Funny how only his arkansas players are coming to his defense, no current or former SJU player of his.

The male athletes got hoes(is that still PC?), the female athletes got hose.

Did Ark players come to his defense? I think the problem is that his SJU players have no idea what "defense" is. lol

or we can use this one to summarize mike's chances....

It’s about optics and PR. It’s a good move on Anderson’s part. The more painful he makes it for sju the more leverage he has to extract a favorable settlement.

I learned a long time ago to not prejudge a lawsuit or arbitration.
Absolutely Otis! You got lots of people with zero knowledge of either situation, and/or with no legal expertise, saying what the school should or shouldn't do. For instance, none of us have any idea whether or not the school made a reasonable offer to Anderson's attorneys to make this go away. We have no idea how Anderson's people may have responded. I mean, what if they said they wanted the 11 Mil plus more or they were gonna sue and try to embarrass the school? I'm not saying that's what happened, but rest assured with that fat lying POS Sexton involved, I wouldn't put anything past them. He already took SJU to the cleaners twice, I'm sure he's got no qualms about going for the hat trick.

A lawsuit is not proof of anything
