This is the perfect description of what it's like being a St Johns fanWhen it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside...
!
As well as all of the other teams I root for (Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers)
Almost makes me want to stop being a sports fan
That would make my wife one very happy lady
As, much as I want for all my teams to win (and, that is badly).... I don't take this stuff as seriously, as I once did years ago. It's a diversion from life itself. A form of entertainment.
My zest for winning is still the same. I've certainly never been a "good" loser (was probably considered, a "poor" loser at one point). I would stew over losses for a couple days (or longer, depending on the game or what was at stake). But there are more important things in life, where as I'm not mentally/emotionally bogged down by sports any longer.
You are 100% correct Dinkins. In August I was diagnosed with a abdominal mass which my doctors thought was cancer. After 2 grueling weeks prior to surgery I had to deal with the prospects that maybe my life would be coming to an end. Fortunately they were wrong, and my tumor was a benign hemangioma! After that ordeal I look at life very differently. Sure I love SJU basketball, but at the end of the day it is just a game! Enjoy it for what it is, entertainment!
Glad everything worked out okay for you.
Now as far as this situation goes, you can't make this stuff up.
