Adonis not Eligible?

When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside...
!
This is the perfect description of what it's like being a St Johns fan

As well as all of the other teams I root for (Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers)
Almost makes me want to stop being a sports fan
That would make my wife one very happy lady

As, much as I want for all my teams to win (and, that is badly).... I don't take this stuff as seriously, as I once did years ago. It's a diversion from life itself. A form of entertainment.

My zest for winning is still the same. I've certainly never been a "good" loser (was probably considered, a "poor" loser at one point). I would stew over losses for a couple days (or longer, depending on the game or what was at stake). But there are more important things in life, where as I'm not mentally/emotionally bogged down by sports any longer.

You are 100% correct Dinkins. In August I was diagnosed with a abdominal mass which my doctors thought was cancer. After 2 grueling weeks prior to surgery I had to deal with the prospects that maybe my life would be coming to an end. Fortunately they were wrong, and my tumor was a benign hemangioma! After that ordeal I look at life very differently. Sure I love SJU basketball, but at the end of the day it is just a game! Enjoy it for what it is, entertainment!

Glad everything worked out okay for you.

Now as far as this situation goes, you can't make this stuff up.

I don't place any blame on Lavin and staff for KT or Adonis not qualifying. The Westchester CC situation affected more than just us, and when the NCAA Eligibility Clearninghouse cleared Adonis, it's considered done (right?). The fallout is that these are two major headlines because we had a weak recruiting class. If it happens at Syracuse or UCONN or NC with these same players it's not even a headline, it's a side story. So even if we are in no way at fault, we look bad as a program. The timing of this smells like a rat.

Surprised none of the beat writers have followed up on your last sentence.

Arbitello has a hard on for Lavin.
Its unfortunate that he harpoons the program like this - even at the expense at one of his former players.

Gotta imagine this will be extremely damaging to Arbitello in terms of bringing players in to CTK. Then again, he's 1,000,000 times better than his predecessor.

We may be on the verge of two straight great days for the program if IB commits tomorrow and we make it to midnight tonight with no one being declared ineligible!

Exactly what is Arbitello accused of?

How long has Arbitello been sitting on this info? You would think the CHSAA would not appreciate him clamming up until now. . .

Tipping off the NCAA about adonis' s SAT score. Several of the news articles said a third - party contacted the NCAA to inform them.
Personally I don't think his former HS coach would do that, regardless of his feelings towards SL.
In my opinion, its more likely it was one of the other coaches who was recruiting ADR and knew about the situation.

If SL has a few drinks and asks you to take him to Rose Hill...say no. Nothing good will come from that.

What is the "situation"? That Adonis allegedly had someone else take the SAT for him?

no, I don't think that's it at all.
Supposedly there is a rule that the NCAA flags or disregards your sat score if you improve by more than 200pts. Apparently ADR 's score the first time he took the test was more than 200pts below the ncaa-mimimum. So no matter what he got the second time, he wouldn't be elidgible.

Stupid rule. But that's how I understand it. If someone knows more feel free to add to it or correct me if I'm wrong.

If that's all it is, he should be able to show his receipt from his test prep class if he paid for one, and then tell the NCAA to go f themselves.

That's a bogus rule. My SAT score improved by more than 200 points the second time I took it. I took a prep class the 2nd time.

Adonis should have gone to North Carolina. No SAT's...No classes...No NCAA rulings...No problem.

The idea that North Carolina is off the hook for 18 years of blatant cheating sickens me.

NCAAF is to the SEC

as

NCAAB is to the ACC

How does a "third party" turn in to Arbitello? Where is his name mentioned anywhere?

So if he was doomed to be ineligible the second time he took the test, what was the plan, then --to take it a third time? Find this whole thing a little bizarre.....

It appears to be a file confirming Arbitello lodged the complaint. I have not pulled it up.
