And seemingly, in traffic.

And without a salary.

Update on Tariq Owens: The release has been requested, per his dad, Renard Owens. "That doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving. He's going to explore his options, if there is a better option out there for him." #sjubb
Sounds like what my old St. John's girlfriend told me on more than one occasion. (Just change the "him" to "her.")

Well at least it is good news for the mop up crew as they will have a lot less work to do mopping the floor after each of the 100 times a game Tariq goes sliding on his butt across the floor.

This is a lesson that where there are rumbles, earthquakes follow. But this is unbelievable. Are we snake-bit?!? (Dunno why, but I’m into snake imagery tonight!)
Hopefully, there’s time to recover from this befuddling move. I could call it a treacherous move—but have to recognize that college hoops has become a pit of vipers. (Snakes again. I hate snakes. Sorry.)

Chicago, my old therapist would have a field day with your snake imagery.

Reality is on a team like Nova he'd be no more than a rotation player if that. 6 11 and no post game, got pushed around like a rag doll by Delgado, that is when he wasn't 20 feet from.basket. If he wants to be the featured pl Ayer on offense, go to a low mid major or d2 whete he can rule the paint. Not a Mullin problem, just another kid who thinks his stock is amazon.

Beast, the problem isn't as much his absence as it is who'll replace him in the middle. Right now we've no one other than an untested Keita.

I agree. This isnt a kid who didn't get his chance hes a kid whose dad thinks should be the focal point on offense. To me , the further he moved from the basket the less valuable he becomes . It's clear he thinks his future is out there. Let him go to Georgetown so he can be coached by a guy who was a college monster on defense who lived 20 feet from the basket in the NBA

Isn’t it still Thursday?!!?

Unless I am reading this wrong, he is graduating in May. Paultz said he has not asked for a release, so he may play as a graduate, or am I wrong? Graduating should not be thought the same way as a kid who is still matriculating and leaves early.
Troubling to say the least and will this affect Shamorie or vice versa
Apparently while our players played well together in the final weeks of the season my take is that it's every man for himself on this team. I don't see any loyalty to the coaches that's for sure. A major issue when half your team is composed of transfer vagabonds.
Ponds will test the NBA waters and that had no effect on the request for release by the Owens. Forget the tweet bull shit by his dad, they obviously are not happy with the way the coaches have used Tariq for some strange reason. The staff barely worked with his son last summer and perhaps feel more estranged than letting on.
Even if he returned I think Mullin will utilize him less than intended. With Chris if you hint you're leaving you may as well as leave. (See Yakwe).

Brutal. Just a really tough pill to swallow. I have enjoyed Tariq's energy. The kid plays hard and really cares.

Our entire rebuild relies on the core four returning. Let's pray he stays.

I have no inside information on the program. I can only observe what I see from the stands or on TV. For me Tariq was a pleasure to watch and played his butt off for the team. His teammates seemed to really like him, he never dogged it and had a unique skill set. Coach Mullin consistently praised his game, his versatility and his work ethic. He had a pretty good shooting touch and was one of the best shot blockers in the nation. He was our main rim protector and was an integral part of the much improved defense we exhibited this season.

Tariq is very much entitled to explore all of his options and do what is best for his future. Anyone who has his best interests at heart would support him doing this. As a fan of the team I am hopeful he decides to return because I enjoy watching him on the court and it will probably lead to greater success for us next year. That said if his path must take him elsewhere then I hope that decision leads him to all the success he desires.

Unbelievabe. Let’s pray this is retracted—pronto. Unfair as well. And I do not buy the vibes that ‘somehow’ this is Mullin’s ‘fault’.
Nope. The blame here is the ‘System’—the era we’re in and the pits people sink to, when an insane fantasy of $$$$$$’s drive players and parents to betray even their best interests.
Ugh, I would consider this our biggest recruiting loss this year.
Lets see what big man we replace with (I know about Keita.).
Hoping for a big man with better #s or atleast similiar, you gotta think Yakwe is gone too.

So 4 ships available? We need atleast 2 more bigs, if not, then we're in trouble.
Even one big man, we're in trouble. I'll start claiming doom at the end of May, if we add none or only 1.
