It's always doom and gloom with Red Storm fans, and it makes sense given the last two decades. But I see a few positives to take from this gameFlush it. Beat DePaul, finish OOC schedule with 1 loss, and we are in fine shape.
Bad start again, for the last 35 minutes we outscored them. On the road, against a ranked team from the Big 12. While shooting terribly, and playing our worst game.We lost to the 23rd ranked team on the road for our first loss of the season. I didn’t get to see the game due to family obligations. For all intents and purposes, reading the last 5 or 6 pages of this thread, as a Johnnies fan…I should jump off a cliff or something? Season over? You guys tell me.
With all do respect, McDermott has won over 60% of Big East games since joining the conference and in just the last 2 years has won 3 tournament games
Maybe Anderson will eventually have success here but it’s completely fair to fans/media to be critical especially after laying a complete egg today
Other than that did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln?Bad start again, for the last 35 minutes we outscored them. On the road, against a ranked team from the Big 12. While shooting terribly, and playing our worst game.
Think about that for a second and you have to see a lot of positives. A lot.
Great post. Keep it a buck. Basketball can be fickle. One game doesn’t make a season. With all do respect, McDermott has never been to an elite 8, Mike Anderson has. We can debate coach history all day long, but we're talking about this season right here. This year, this season, McDermott has a team most projected as a top 10 team and they lost at home by 10 to Nebraska, a team projected to finish last in their conference. St. John's a team projected 6th in their conference, beat that Nebraska team by 20 points. So, let's keep it fair, if we're going to say CMA is a bad coach and is unprepared and team is undisciplined when he losses to a rank team on the road, let's keep that same energy and say the same thing about McDermott when he losses at home to an inferior team.

Ironically, before Creighton, he was at Iowa St. for four years, and never had a winning record. With all do respect, McDermott has won over 60% of Big East games since joining the conference and in just the last 2 years has won 3 tournament games

Didn’t imply I thought Anderson was a bad coach, but in year 4 of his tenure where we haven’t even made the NIT I would hope the bar is higher then beating an awful Nebraska team
The point re McDermott, is what he has done at Creighton both long term and in recent years gives him the benefit of the doubt for having a shitty game. The Jays have won big games when it has mattered, St. John’s has not. In year 4, it’s time to win and prove the program is heading in the right direction
….. who do you believe is more likely to next make the Elite 8 ….. McDermot or Anderson ?
That used to call Shamorie Ponds teams “Hero Ball” also!It sure seems that the St. John’s offense consists of attempting to beat the other team down the court, and if unsuccessful in getting the quick basket then to past the ball around without any pattern and either turning the ball over or forcing a shot.
Let’s hope CMA installs some kind of structured offense other than the “hero” ball that has characterized St. John’s mens basketball during the past 4 seasons.
Gotcha, so what you really meant was "Why didn't Stanley play??????????????????????" But in your exuberance you said, "Why didn't Wusu and Stanley play?????????????????", because, as we know, you "never want Wusu in there". At least you are consistent.Well the staff screwed that up as well cause I never want Wusu in there. At least they are consistent.
If coaching alone did the trick, I'm taking Otzelberger over both of them.….. who do you believe is more likely to next make the Elite 8 ….. McDermot or Anderson ?

And image if this St John’s team would’ve lost to Nebraska at home..
The season ain't over because of today's performance , but anyone who can't see our flaws, which were magnified today because we faced a legit team, is blinded by loyalty to the school and/or CMA. We didn't have a bad shooting game, we don't have shooters to speak of. There's a difference. We also don't have an effective half court offense. Those are just some of our issues, so please cut the bullshit excuses. If our flaws aren't corrected, those that can be corrected, it's gonna be a very long season.
Our two hyped point guards had 12 of the 20 turnovers. What team doesn't have flaws? I watch every Lakers game with the arguably the best player of all time in Lebron James and that team has many flaws. Every team at every level has flaws. I'm not sure the teams you are watching that don't. And I don't care how many shooters you have on the team if you turn the ball over 20 times, you're not going to win many games. Taking care of the ball was more of an issue than anything today. If they have 10 turnovers rather than 20, they probably win this game, despite the shooting woes.
