2023-24 Roster

Arrest wasn’t on that team and alas we lost to Gonzaga and were lucky to beat Northern Arizona. But I was at the game at Cameron where me and another crazy Johnny fan stormed the floor and almost got beaten up after an epic win.

True about Artest, though Chud did play with him the previous year when the bench went about 7.5 deep (chud, sir albert and DE were each about .5 a player that year). Forgot that Jessie was the fifth starter on that next year's team.

Zach says sju is targeting ND transfer Cormac Ryan. Heady guard from New York with size and skill.

I was going to mention him. He's been gone a while and might be ready to come home. Plus I think he's older than Timberlake so it would certainly be an infusion of senior leadership.

Why jump to that conclusion?

What if the kid is used as a 6th man as a spark plug off the bench, like Chudney Gray? He was also a MAAC transfer (Manhattan) who played a lot of minutes.
Funny seconds ago JPM114 & I had this exact conversation Krans
I think you are all geniuses, mostly because I had same thought as well. He's got good (listed) size, and can back up multiple positions.

I imagine the staff is saying something to the transfers they’re going after to get them to come. They should have treated Posh and Storr the same as in my view they’re just as important. I’m not convinced we’re going to find two better players at their positions this year but perhaps I’m wrong.
It took a few years but Boo Harvey the poster finally leaving up to Boo Harvey the basketball player.
The 2 Iona guys not a better backcourt than Posh /Storr.

Lol, we really are going to have an “All Iona back court.” Can’t say I’m thrilled with that but what do I know
lol This is funny.

Want to compare the Iona backcourt to Posh & Curbelo?
Both can shoot the 3 and score. Posh isn't a scorer and Curbelo had a few good games but really didn't do jack.

Now I'll get bitched at talking about Posh that way, but just being real.

I see them as an upgrade over Posh and Curbelo.

lol I might have to ignore this thread now, i'm gonna get hammered :sneaky:

Walter Clayton Jr. Is no Iona-level recruit. Kid is excellent and lights out shooter as well. Kid is an upgrade offensively over Posh by far and it’s not close. Jenkins is solid, but Storr was coming on strong. That said I don’t think Pitino will be planning on Jenkins as a starting SG, more of a Wusu-type role. My guess is that we will be grabbing some big talent at the 2-3 spots, which are integral in Pitino’s style.

I agree with you. I’d still have loved to keep Posh especially as a defensive stopper, but he wouldn’t have started over Clayton.

I watched Larry Brown and Phil Jackson come to NY and become morons.
Hopefully Pitino goes the Thibodeau and Showalter route or I am going to just think it’s my fault. All Iona backcourt not good start.

That's in sync with remarks on another thread: that Clayton is a legitimate Big East player but that minutes to suit Jenkins are in question...which seems to imply Rick has 'big-time' guards / wings in his sights.
We shall see.

I'd love for Posh to come back as well as the sixth man, being a lockdown defender under Rick.
Could see him as a Bradley type of defender from the Celtics a few ago.

I like Storr also but his choice, it's that simple.
People saying oh they should kiss his ass for him to come back, people crack me up.

Rick kisses no ones ass.

Hawaii and Louisville disagree
And for the record I could care less but that statement was silly.
If I was an NCAA coach I would show up with the Monopoly man carting a bag of cash and the Cavinder twins to recruits houses. Which is basically what happened before NIL

I’m overjoyed we got Pitino as coach and think it’s silly to worry about roster composition until he’s had the time to fill it out (i.e. early May). On the other hand the Boards historical tendency to overhype transfers and potential recruits is in overdrive. I have no problem bringing in Clayton and his backcourt mate but let’s not suggest they’d be the best backcourt SJU has had in years. It was only 5 years ago we had a backcourt of Ponds and Simon which was pretty talented for sure.
