2023-24 Roster

Why jump to that conclusion?

What if the kid is used as a 6th man as a spark plug off the bench, like Chudney Gray? He was also a MAAC transfer (Manhattan) who played a lot of minutes.

Very appropriate comparison in that Chudney's second year it was essentially a 6.5 man team with Emmanuel getting 10 mins of rest/foul time in the Frontcourt as necessary. I say very appropriate because I think it's just as likely that the roster will be shorter than many folks here are predicting. PS that team was 24-8, not ranked very highly most of the season but went into the tourney ranked in the top 10 after going 11-1 with wins over 5 ranked teams in their last 12 and winning the BE tourney. Not saying we're rolling out Barkeley, Artest, Bootsy, Postell and Glove next year and should expect similar results by the way. But the coaching will be exponentially better. Unsure you can play RP ball with such a short bench though,

There will also be guys who become available as late as June, July, or August who can instantly change a team.

Let’s say we have 8-11 guys by sometime in June. We will have a shot with all the big ones who pop late with a base in tact, openings for playing time, and a HOF coach to pitch it all to them.

Stop being sensible Mase!

Impossible to keep track of the rules these days but I believe players have to be in the portal by May 11 to be immediately eligible for the upcoming season. Though I could be wrong

Even if we get two kongs guys let's compare them to what we already have. Posh great defender can't shoot cuerbelo don't get me started with king . Plus two guys who knows pitino system and remember jokes came from depaul a bottom feeder like us in the big East. Iona was at the top of the Maac. If Rick likes them who are we to judge .

It would be a huge upgrade right off the bat. Both guys also 6’2+

They may really want those transfers, they may not have really wanted many of the players from last season. Fact is, none of us know what went on with these kids under CMA, none of us knows how they were approached by Rick, and no one knows what the roster will look like next season. So until it all shakes out, it's all purely speculation.
Yup, I think that’s the point of this forum

Haven't heard much recent buzz about Garwey Dual (Top 50), or Brady Dunlap (#149), but hope April visits still in the works. Both would 'fill in' our 2023 recruiting class, complementing Brandon Gardner (hopefully).

Anything is possible but I don’t think these kids are transferring to play behind Eric Barkley

Arrest wasn’t on that team and alas we lost to Gonzaga and were lucky to beat Northern Arizona. But I was at the game at Cameron where me and another crazy Johnny fan stormed the floor and almost got beaten up after an epic win.

Transfer portal closes May 11 to declare. After that players will need a waiver. We will have to wait and see how serious NCAA is about getting tougher on waivers. HS kids have mostly signed LOI's and probably won't be released without coaching changes which seem to be winding down. So yeah, I guess guy might "become" available in the summer but how available might be in question. Not saying I'm getting anxious, just pointing out the facts.

All this being true, if a talented kid wants to transfer late and may have to sit a year, you still take him.
