Pitino will get talent just like the past coaches have done.

The big difference is Pitino will coach the players up and put them in positions to succeed.

Gone will be the stomach churning open threes because of a clueless and scatterbrained defense.
 
I would've liked to have kept Posh (return?), Storr, and Yaxel (for RBs), but here we are.
A stage, Rick predicted at his Press Conference. He said he'd need to replace 6 - 8 players.
He knew what he'd be able to offer to the few guys he wanted to stay and knew they'd want more PT and would enter the portal.
Well, the portal works both ways.
Rick knows what he needs and will get enough to be very competitive in 2023 - 24, and more after that.
 
Anybody know if Pitino or anybody on staff will post their version of the bat signal every time a player commits or is about to commit?

Not once ever have I indicated a concern with Rick Pitino. If Pitino coached the last 2 teams I have no doubt would have made the tournament and the JC / Wheeler team wins a game.
As stands now we don’t have a roster so I can’t guarantee success next year who could outside of delusional people. Will Pitino assemble a decent roster? ….Um probably.
Will it be a NCAA tournament roster? If you take 7 of top 20 in portal, I am not sure that does it in the BE.
Which is my only point and I don’t think he gets 7 of the top 20 .

A year ago at this time, we could not guarantee success, even with 3/4 of the roster set, so why twist yourself into a pretzel on April 4th?

There are no shortages of very good players in the portal, or about to enter it. Why not wait until the dust settles? Pitino isn’t going to add players just for the sake of expediency. There are no medals for winning the fastest off season roster build.

And Pitino doesn’t need 7 of the top 20 transfers. He only needs the right top 7 of 20 transfers to build an NCAA tournament roster.

The last time we had a successful system was during Jarvis. No, not the weave.

It was the “just shut up, give Barkley the ball, and let him handle the offense” system.

He doesn’t have a good chance to be the first pick he is a mortal lock. 😉😊 Also he’s now 7’5.

Wouldn’t call people who believe implicitly in Pitino delusional, in fact they are far from it. I would call people who don’t believe in Pitino factual deniers.

If either of those opinions are unconditional or set in stone they're not delusional but definitely not based on sound and rational analysis. Anything can happen and probably will. However you have to have hope at this point when you hire one of the top five coaches of the last 40 years.
 
Seems like Fr. Shanley was determined to make a coaching change after last season, regardless. So, in my view, a host of players would've entered the portal no matter who the new HC proved to be.
And I'd rather face a rebuild like this with one of the best college coaches to ever have donned a $3,000 suit. Many HCs have pricey suits; very few have Pitino's record.
So, this isn't 'just' blind trust, it's also playing the odds.
