Judging by their attention spans during CMA’S time outs, this may not be far from the truth.

There is going to be some consequences for sure that come from how Rick discarded the majority of the roster.
I say this having full faith in him as a Hall of Fame coach, and I'm still riding with him,
But from what I'm seeing, not every kid wanted to transfer. Jones being the last one doesn't seem to be a coincidence, he and Curbelo will have a hard time getting a waiver and it puts their season in doubt for next year, which effects their NIL deals, etc. Curbelo certainly needs time away from the game to mature as a person but Jones has been dealing with a lot after the passing of his father last year and taking away his escape for a whole year does a disservice to him. We SHOULD care about the well being of the kids who committed and decided to play for OUR school.

It really makes me wonder how bad it was off the court. Pitino could have keep some of the players. So him wiping the slate clean is really telling. All of these players have talent and will end up on other rosters.
Pitino is committed to running the program his way with his recruited players. Anderson and his recruits were not getting the job done. If Anderson was a slightly better coach and leader he and his players would still be here.

Fair, but none of us know what was said between Pitino & players or between players & NIL people. For all we know, he could have told them they are welcome to stay, but their minutes would likely be much smaller... and as a result of that they might have separately discovered whatever NIL $ they got this year could be substantially reduced, or even non-existent.

Rick- Jones, I have never actually seen you play but From what I read on a ST John’s forum you play “hero ball”. Now I don’t actually know what that means but they post it a lot. From the tapes I saw you do like to shoot a lot. I plan on bringing in better shooters because I am Rick Pitino. You should transfer.
Rick- Dylan, there is some guy who keeps leaving messages for me begging to keep you, Maseface jr or something. You have some talent but from the tapes I saw you had your shot blocked 732 times and missed 234 layups. I am planning on bringing in better players because I am Rick Pitino. Rick- AJ, that Maseface guy and some middle aged white guy claiming to be Boo Harvey keep leaving me messages that you don’t defend. I do respect Larry Wright’s opinion though as I once had a very pleasant though uncomfortable conversation with him in the urinal.Now I see you made all BE Rookie team and have talent but since you know I am Rick Pitino if you stay you will probably be my 7th or 8th man. Rick-Posh, outside of Soriano and Curbelo you are actually the only other player I know. Some guy Jack keeps leaving messages at all hours of the night begging me to keep you. Now you definitely have skills but I am 70 and I shoot better than you do. I would love for you to stay and be a rotation guy but since I am Rick Pitino I will definitely recruit a better point guard than you so… let me know and tell that Jack guy to stop calling me.
Rick- King, I don’t really know you but Tim Brando left a rather threatening voice mail that said I should keep you if I ever want to see my dog again. I am Rick Pitino, I can get another dog.

Hilarious - so King may be back. So Pitino tells players to leave. He then realizes he cant get any players (as evidenced by not one signing over the past several weeks) and now he is probably asking players to come back.

Do you know for a fact that he told King he had to leave? No you don't but you are at least predictable.
You know what is more hilarious? Your consistently matter of fact statements, which you cannot come close to proving true.
What if Pitino said it was ok for King to look elsewhere but he would keep the door open for a return.
That happens all the time, especially if he couldn’t find a good enough NIL somewhere else.
But continue to pop in with your erudite commentary. It is welcomed, appreciated, and encouraged.

Guys, I think we need to recognize how little information we have about this situation. Most of us only see the players in games. We are not in practice, we do not know anyone's grades, we do not know who may or may not be a problem off the court.
Rick Pitino by now does know all of those things. If he decides that certain players should move on, and he handles the situation appropriately and treats the players fairly, then we shouldn't complain.
It's not like he's tearing down a championship roster. This is an underachieving roster, with players that didn't play smart basketball, and didn't appear to listen to their coach. And while they typically played hard - they didnt always do so. They mailed it in against Marquette, and a few other games as well. So while we may like some players - and I personally would like to see Posh and Storr stay - we should also understand that someone who does not have any attachment to these players might prefer to start fresh.
And remember what Pitino said about Mike Anderson at his press conference -- "terrific person, maybe not a good fit." Maybe Iron Mike was too easy on these guys, and they walked all over him? It wouldn't be the first time in sports history that has happened. If that is the case - and it is just as likely as not, in my opinion - then a complete and imediate rebuild might be what is necessary.
