2023-24 Roster

What do you consider impact? Because we’re definitely gonna get 5 that play
Well since we currently have 3 players 2 of which aren’t good, I would hope so.
I really like Clayton, but coming from Iona. I think he will be good but who knows. Again we are starting with no base here.
I am not complaining, just trying to be realistic.
You know how it goes here. Someone posted already. New coach walks on water( and this time I agree) things don’t go well, most turn.
If we make the Tournament next year will consider it a great success.

Not getting 5 impact transfers and even if did, never know what you get throwing a team together last minute, If look at the tournament one maybe two portal guys to improve the core. People who think we will be great year 1 just setting themselves up to be miserable and look stupid when they turn on Pitino year 1.
Larry I think you are setting yourself up for the very low end. To only be thrilled when we achieve greater success than what you are saying. And I guess that’s fine. But Just don’t say I told you so when we do very well next year. Transfer portal changes everything.

Now if we end up average and .500 record then you can say you told us so. But if I were a betting man…..

Keeping Soriano, who is and will be one of the best centers in the country improves our prospects quite a bit. If we add a guy like Clayton Jr. who knows Pitino’s system already it’s another X-factor than can get us on track quicker.

UConn
Had 3 portal guys this past season that were in the rotation and 1 starter

SD State
3 portal guys in rotation 2 starters

Miami
2 portal guys both starters

Florida Atlantic
1 portal transfer 0 starters

We would have 8 portal guys in 9 man rotation with 4 of them starters

Again I am not saying any of this is wrong. Outside of Soriano I would have only def kept Storr and maybe Posh and or Jones in a more limited role.
Just saying for this upcoming season I am not expecting an incredible jump.

Most on here won't say it, but it's a pretty big gamble that Rick essentially got rid of an all-BE rookie and the former BE Defensive POY.

But he believes he can do better in the transfer pool.

And he also says he will turn SJU around right away.

On face value, this doesn't seem like a winning plan. But he has the experience, the rings, the gravitas and big-money backers on his side.

So I'll beat a dead horse and say.... "In Rick we trust."

Actually.....yes, we are getting 5 impact transfers.

If any of our former players transfers within the conference, then any rooting I have (or may have) goes right outta the window.
I like certain players. But I pull for a team. It's just the way it is now with transfer portals and free agency in pro sports. As a kid (in 60's)it was fun anticipating the baseball season knowing what the Yanks lineup would be. Sadly, those days are long gone. Now it takes the month of April to get reacquainted with the team.

“No base” is a little a misleading when you are starting with a 15 & 12 center. How many guys do you think you need as part of a rotation to be successful in college? You’re worried your Urinal buddy can’t get 6-7 rotation players to add to Soriano?

He didn’t get rid of the rookie and the defensive POY he invited them to stay. They choose to leave with Posh keeping option open to return.

Soriano did that last year and we sucked
I am simply saying not sure how next year will play out, even with one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time. With no roster not sure how anyone could be 100% confident.
