2023-24 Roster

Got it. Apologies, my bad.
No worries, probably could have been more specific. Original Keita averaged 6 and 6 as a senior. Also always heard the story that Jarvis offered without ever seeing him play.

Our current Keita was around 8 and 6. I think he's a huuuuuuge project despite being huge. So hope to be wrong on this.

Unlike our past coaches who often seemed to pick up projects just to fill out the roster, I trust that Rick will only take on a project if he strongly feels that he can develop the kid.

Soriano √
Traore √
Keita √
Jones

Curbelo X
Alexander X
Wusu X
Storr X
Pinzon X
King X
Stanley X
……………..
Gardner

Reede X
Lendeborg X

I believe there will be three new names by Wednesday the 12th, so that's a much needed chunk in other direction.
Three new names mentioned/offered, or committed?
Great news if it'll be positive additions, but won't that have to wait for the Dead Period to end?

I think RP can work with Jones, help him make better choices. And by that I mean, when you're working in a disciplined offense, constant movement and passing, the shot selection becomes more obvious. MA's offense seemed like he allow the players to make the choice to shoot whenever they wanted. It was an erratic type of offensive basketball. I truly believe that if RP was giving this team without being able to add players, they'd be a much better team than they were this year.

Still can’t believe how quiet it’s been on Jones. Prior to today it’s been not a word about him and Keita. Now with Keita being mentioned only one left.
I would have thought we'd dump him in the first wave, but wondering if staff thinks production is too much to get rid of, especially if he promises to stop shooting threes. Can grab a good amount of boards for us if we leave him parked close to basket.

I have a notion who might be the first 3 outside recruits of the Pitino Era, but I think I'll shut up since I was woefully wrong that Posh, Dylan, and Yaxel would be key contributors for us next year.
At least, Jones is still possible, lol.

My guess is Jones' camp is gathering information on the likelihood of landing a waiver. Except for Curbelo (who was probably not welcomed back), our other guys didn't need a waiver.

Jones is uber talented but he would have to completely revamp is instincts. Pitino doesn't subscribe to hero ball.

Having a very hard time imagining a scenario in which Jones is back next year. Would assume he would have been included in the workouts with Soriano and Traore that Pitino tweeted about

Interesting to know, if NCAA does not grant Jones a waiver, what happens? Does SJU have to honor the scholarship or does he go play overseas?

I think that would be whatever school he transfers to's problem. He transfers and then seeks the waiver to play without sitting the year.

Joking aside, Jones has talent. Everyone agreed Anderson couldn’t coach or is it now he just couldn’t recruit? So let’s see Jones with a real coach.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Jones play for Pitino.
Scorer off the bench would seem like ideal role for him.
