The one thing we can be sure of (hopefully) is having a point guard who knows the system. That alone is a huge step in the right direction.

And we had this whole roster last year too and it sucked.

I get your point. I thought some of those guys could help us and would help us. You seem unwilling to believe Rick could be confident feeling otherwise.

No matter what happens-we could win a national championship-and there will still be a handful of fans who find something to complain about. Some because they're miserable, some because they have an agenda(IE CMA supporters) and some because they never wanted RP as our coach. Thankfully right now it's just a handful, but if Rick doesn't start landing some kids soon, I suspect there will be more coming out of the woodwork.

I agree. No one ever said to blindly follow Pitino. Different opinions are welcomed and encouraged.

But holy smokes some act as if it is September and our CYO team needs players.

How many did Kansas St have and they made the Elite 8. Look Otzelberger did at Iowa St his first year replenishing an entire roster, he was 22-13.
 
Just curious if anyone has heard any rumblings of CRP digging into his Greece connections to bring over some unknown (in the US at least) 5-star over there? (We all know CRP uses Grecian Formula...right? Pun intended.)

Believe he is working on bringing this kid named Wembanyama over here... he's a project... so don't expect much from him the first two years.
Will be a good piece in practice.
 
Let's all relax - the Johnnies won't suck. By year 2 of the Pitino regime we will be in the top half of the lerague and be Dancing, and then its onward and upward from there.

I would have liked to see Psoh and Storr stay as well, but I'm sure they will both land in good spots and I hope they do well. As for us, Pitino will remake the roster in short order and set us up for sustained success.

I assuming this is sarcasm as Victor Wembanyama is the 7'2" French sensation that has a very good chance of being the first pick of this year's NBA draft.

The timing was always going to be an issue for St. John’s fans. Our portal entries were obviously going to come first and Pitino was very transparent that we wouldn’t see any transfers-in for 2 to 3 weeks. It has allowed the fears to run wild — which is somewhat amusing to witness.

You could put together multiple final four caliber teams with who is still in the portal. There are some monster guards and some of them have two years of eligibility.

Then you balance that out with kids like Brady Dunlap, Keita, and other high school kids or transfers with 3 years of eligibility remaining to lay the infrastructure for years 2-4.

If someone would tell me that the Marillac I knew during the Norm years would eventually be the older Sage imparting patience and a voice of reason to the board well back then I’d have said that person telling me that was bat shit crazy and yet here we are Marillac2 the voice of reason

The only thing I am not 💯 on is Pitino being able to recruit at ST John’s as well as he thinks he can. That is not a Pitino concern but a ST John’s concern. Even if he can’t he will work with what he can and we will be in as good a shape as we could be.
As far as this next season I am just saying going to take a little bit for him to build a roster even with the Portal.

I don't think Pitino would have taken this job if he didn't think he could succeed (and his definition of success is different than most). And to succeed, you need players.

Lav got Players... Mullin got Players... CMA was able to get talent.

I firmly believe that Rick believes he has what he needs to succeed here.
