2023-24 Roster

This is not directed at anyone here, or anyone at all. It’s a collective comment about the relationship between last year’s group of players and the City of New York - population over 9 million, that’s million. And 3 million more in Nassau and Suffolk, which is attached to Queens.

Of those 12 million most nights at Carnesecca barely 3,000 of them thought spending a dime to come out and watch this group play was a worthy investment of their time and money. And if you watched them play together it was understandable. They were bad, and setting defensive “records” that fly in the face of a team working hard or expending a lot of effort. They also carried on a lot and showed zero respect to their coach during timeouts. They were in a word, unlikeable.

I’m not an insider and I don’t know who were and were not problems. But all evidence I saw was a completely dysfunctional team, and now SJU has filed a lawsuit basically stating such as well.

I am very ready to move on.
Amen brother.

Pitino is one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time, but I have to shake my head when he heralds Traore, but doesn’t show some love to Posh, and Wusu.

He has raised my level of expectations from him. I expect immediate results. Put up or shut up.
Have to think this is a LuHi recruiting strategy. Keeps the door open for Edgecombe and others. Maybe a Zed Key grad transfer. Who knows

The job to perform is Coach Pitino’s. He is putting together the team he wants. In what universe is Traore more valuable than Posh, Wusu or the others.
Posh and Storr were given the option to return. They choose not to. Wusu evidently had issues more to do on an off the court according to the post article.

You normally play 8 - 10 guys. Drissa evidently is a 100% team guy who supports his teammates and works hard. If that eventually turns into him being a good rotation guy, then great. If not, you have an end of the bench good teammate who evidently does what he needs to do on and off the court and doesn't cause problems. Sometimes there is value in that especially if Pitino brings in studs that make up his rotation.

While Pitino is shrewd, I doubt he needs a LuHi recruiting strategy. Coach Buck knows who he is.
Exactly. A guy looking to establish a strategic regional partnership. Rick is showing Buck that it’s a two way street

Regarding Clayton, I don't know how much more blatant this could be:

“When I went into the [transfer] portal, we had talked,” Clayton said of Pitino. “He basically said if I want to, I can come over there. He would really enjoy that.”

Asked what interests him about St. John’s, Clayton said: “Coach P, simple as that. I came to New York to play for Coach Pitino. Coach P left Iona, that’s one of the reasons I’m leaving. That’s it.”

Agree. I know nothing and always a chance FL's weather and babes play a role, but I'd be very surprised if Clayton Jr.'s not a Johnny next year.

Guessing, but Traore: 11th, 12, or 13th player on the final roster, immediately accepted his role, good teammate, depth for size/fouls/physical play. and maybe, just maybe Anderson didn't know how to use him in games, or develop his skill set to improve.

And maybe Pitino will so that he actually winds up being an end of the rotation guy. Stranger things have happened.

This one hurts love Posh wish him the best wherever he goes but I’m gonna put faith in Pitino that we are going to get some really good players in here next year.

This Board would fight over whether the sky is blue or not...

Someone is going to bring up the color at sunset after reading this post.
