My last post for the day. First I trust in Rick completely and what I’m about to say isn’t a criticism. He wants his own players that’s fine.
For me personally one of the things that made Lavins first season special is the team sane players sucked under Norm so personally I was hoping the first season would be a turnaround with some of the core guys like Posh and Wusu. Again it’s not a criticism and some left on their own. it’s just what I was hoping for to see these kids improve as a team under Coach.
Hey I still miss my flip phone
Just my opinion nothing more nothing less
Not worth the risk, on a kid who was probably the biggest reason for the dismal year we had.Pitino probably would have to hire a psychiatrist to sit at the end of bench as well.
Curbelo was more than an "alright" player when he was focused, but too often he was "wildin' out." If Pitino can get the former, then I totally agree.
BTW-From what I am told the door is not completely shut on possibly returning for some that have entered the Portal.
Most will not return but it would not shock me if 1 or 2 actually returned.
We'll see.
That’s not correct as to Wusu. Zach reporting that Posh wanted to satay but did not feel wantedThey were offered a position on next years team and turned it down. Their choice, NOT pushed out. No guarantees offered so they left. Your assessment is inaccurate. Everyone has to earn their PT is way it should be. That is path to winning !
I'm kinda surprised that Curbelo wasn't the first or second player (after Pinzon) to hit the portalNot worth the risk, on a kid who was probably the biggest reason for the dismal year we had.
I'm 47 and basically grew up at Alumni Hall and was conditioned to believe St. John's would always be a national power. I've been deeply upset with the program for the past 23 years, and not OK at all with the recent state of things, and wholeheartedly welcome RP and an almost complete roster turnover. I am thrilled we will likely soon have a pipeline of 5* one and dones. I also enjoy talking about the past in the appropriate forum links. Likely a function of my middle age. I don't think they're mutually exclusive.
With Storr regrettably deciding to leave, I am convincing myself Bamba and Ledlum are coming home.
I definitely appreciate that sentiment and recognize the tongue in cheek but I certainly think there was a sense of national relevance and matching expectations through just about 2000. When Felipe and Zendon committed I thought the final four was guaranteed, and then you had the the final 99-00 run. Anyway, I digress from this topic. No more from me on this tangent! If you are 47 you were 9 the last tie STJ was a national power. early adopter.
Rick Pitino has been voted his conference coach of the year 9 times in his career. He's been to the Final Four 7 times, exactly 5 more times than we've been in 70+ years. If you asked last year's roster, who believes they will someday play in the NBA, all would raise their hands. Their performance and actions say otherwise. When you remove the 9,10, and 11th team in conference, our team went 2-12 and frequently let games slip away in the final minutes. Coaching and preparedness are a factor, but so is the lack of ability for any roster player to make the big play in the big moment. No one stepped up in those big conference battles with the game on the line.
If any of our players don't want to play here for Rick Pitino, honestly, I don't want them. Some played hard on the court, some had a few big moments, but none will be transferring to play a vital role on a final four caliber team. Most are nice kids, some caused problems off the court that made this season a circus. Some kids need a fresh start. But make no mistake - Pitino doesn't say a single thing without purpose. Any kid with talent who would be fully committed to vastly improving his game, conditioning, and winning would be welcomed back.
The rest you can read any way you wish. I just trust this guy to know what he is doing. Without question, we've never had a coach with this much career success, and that means a lot. Already he is up at 5 A.M. and communicating with staff. More energy and commitment than coaches half his age.
Totally agree. The exodus would have happened if CMA stayed.
Many of these kids would've left anyway is correct. Some of these comments are pure comedy.

So I ask who would you rather fill out a roster. Let’s stop putting lipstick on a pig
