2023-24 Roster

Hmm, You didn't miss it or see it because it would be illegal to mention the name of a student.
All you need to do follow the dots to the coach's decisions on players that were withheld for "team rules".
The only three mentioned were Posh, Curbelo and Pinzon.
St. John's entire case rests on the academics issue. So, if you are familiar with the entire termination letter, it would be safe to assume this is not about one player because the arbitrator will require the entire teams academic attendance records and compare that to GPA's. If the student is maintaining borderline eligibility it is damaging but if the kid is an A or B student while missing classes the school has no case.
I know someone in the business I've discussed this with and if the charges are generalized bullshit it will be tossed in a nanosecond.
From a strictly ethical standpoint, I hope that's not case.
Have had an inkling who you were previously the last couple months. When Dink texted me this morning with the same thought. Now I'm positive. Welcome back !!!

Whether it is the player from Iona or some other transfer Posh will most likely be on the bench next season. It will be his choice whether he stays or leaves.
I don’t know why so many people think Posh will be on the bench next season. Do you guys realize what he would have done in the MAAC being coached by Pitino?! Or even being in the CAA for Skerry? He would have led the country in steals and scored 20 with ease. He was “coached” by Anderson, who basically just rolled the ball out and let them do anything, and he played with a dribble-heavy Curbelo who couldn’t shoot. That’s not a good complement.

If you are going to play Clayton and Timberlake together you need an absolute firecracker like Posh. Pitino always has at least one 6’0 lightning quick, defensive-minded guard.

I am incredibly impressed with Clayton’s body control, defense, shooting, etc. but he doesn’t look like the quickest guy in the world.

Tell me you couldn’t play
Posh
Clayton
Timberlake
Storr
Soriano

In fact regardless, if those two transfers come I bet we see them next to another lead guard.
100%!
Nobody is more consistent than Pitino. We will have a quick as hell 5’10-6’1 PG starting whether it’s Posh *fingers crossed* or someone else. In fact, I expect Pitino to have two guys who fit that description.

Like what you said with Posh playing in the MAAC, I think of a similar hypothetical - what could King do as a sophomore in the MAAC with Pitino? Maybe he would have blown up and we might just already have him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sticks around and is that second quick smaller guard.

where are our insiders? i want a projected 9 man rotation from Fordham96/Paultz/Eric and our new Elitist insider Maher...

You guys can't be right on about Rick and just starve us for a week...

Too many accountants on this cite. If a player has a list of positives, they list some negatives. Everything does not have to balance to zero.

if Clayton and Timberlake sign I would expect at least one more in the portal.

From Zach, re Rick's Top Targets, hope it works this time:

Zach continues to put Posh in the bucket of players “possible” to come back with Drissa, Keita, and Storr.

He reiterated this same point on SJUDave’s pod and even made the point that Clayton Jr played off ball a lot this past season…

Just reading some tea leaves here…

Agree.
I may have missed it, but I haven't seen David Jones mentioned by any hoops pundits and that kind of surprises me because he's a talent waiting to be 'Ricked' and close to Joel.
But we'll likely know a lot more about the roster over the next few days.

I like Posh but 20 ppg no shot
But again you also thought Geno was good so…..

He averaged 14 a game as a soph in the BE. What # would be reasonable as an upperclassmen in the MAAC?
Doesn’t shoot 3 well and not a good FT shooter.
I think Posh is a good player but is not a good offensive player. Tommy Amaker, Ed Cota type.
On a good team with other options ideally Posh 8-12 ppg range

I get all that, but yet despite it all he averaged 14 in the BE as an underclassmen. So what is a number that he could get in the MAAC as an upperclassman? BTW 3 years and never below 72% from the line isn’t all that bad.

72% for a guard is balls. On ST John’s is ok because while team couldn’t shoot.
Posh is Posh whatever level he is at. Could see him being good in a West Virginia or Houston. Better than mid major player. Not a good shooter and not just his % he doesn’t pass the eye test. Curbelo not a good shooter but form and technique is not bad. If you were to ask me if he went to lower comp I could see him average 20. If Posh every averaged 20 would be tremendously inefficient 20 and team would be bad.

I wouldn’t think he’d get 20 but you describe him like he would be incapable of ever averaging 14 in a game. And we saw that.

14 would be the max for him.
Not trashing him, that is not his game. Harvey, Barkley, Hardy, Jackson were all way better offensive players and didn’t average 20.
