2023-24 Roster

So I guess everyone didn’t just want to get a great coach, they wanted a great coach and a say in the roster.
Said to myself, self what in the world are ST John’s going to bitch about now?
Now I figured there will be some that expect a Sweet 16 in year one, so they may complain.
But now I figure people will start bitching if their favorite players leave.

Louie played his style no matter the player. His skill was getting the players to buy into his style. Thought he loosened up the year after Mullin left and let them run a bit but otherwise…
Every coach after Lou just scrambled to grab whatever talent they could get no matter if pieces fit or not. One exception was Fran recruited players that fit Jarvis.

Pitino will recruit players that he believes fit. For first time we are in good hands. Kids that leave will be adequately replaced. I get loyalty and will suck if Storr leaves but we finally got what we wanted.

Posh to stay. He shot the three surprising ly well over the last few game without Curbelo in the lineup. He rebounds well for his size and is an above average defender. I’d like Wusu to stay also. He shot the 3 well all season and is a monster going to the hoop and defends well. It way be my loyalty to these two which is clouding my judgement but hopefully XMas come in march this year 😊

My youngest is a sophomore at SJU, he was telling me the same posh is in the gym 3 times a day hopefully he stays love his heart and commitment to our beloved program....
3 times a day in the Gym! Great ! Does he go to Class as diligently ? I like Posh because you can never question his intensity . 100 percent all the time . I would guess he and Wusu will pair up on their decisions on the Portal , if they file . Consensus seems to be that another 2-4 kids will enter the Portal . Just wondering , would Posh and Wusu transfer to Seton Hall ? Asking for Holloway … I’m 50/50 on what’s best for them and what’s best for the Program . There is no debate they have earned our respect and loyalty , even if they go to another program .

True irony to say the least!
Why it was just last month that some of the fans were describing our players as "low I.Q.", "terrible shooting team", " poor defenders", "cancers", etc., and now if you just fell to earth and landed on Union Turnpike, Jesus himself was hired and could perform a miracle and bless those players with holy skills that will transform them into San Diego State muscled warriors.
Now it seems it was more deep seated. It was about hating the coach who, by all accounts, is a decent family man.
Look, I think objective fans need to be brutally honest.
CMA could not recruit the players needed to be in the top half of the conference. The initial top six included Posh, Curbelo, Wusu, and Mathis. Not one consistent offensive player in that group that would start for PRINCETON.
Of all the players, Posh Alexander was the biggest disappointment of the returning players. It was almost a Jekyll and Hyde transformation.
Eventually because of one reason or another, the top 6 shifted to include Storr and Stanley but still the defense was atrocious and at time giving up over 85+ points per game.
We all know that the lineup needed a radical infusion of talent. There are many fathers and grandparents here who see the players as an extension of their family. It's easy to empathize with those fans. However, this is a completely new era of "college basketball" where the emphasis is on "basketball" and no longer on college.
The NIL and the NCAA transfer portal has changed things forever or until the total dissolution of the NCAA.

To be competitive we need high level players. We only have 4 or 5 on the current team. The portal was created for the other eight who, in previous times, were condemned to stay at the end of the bench at their current school or transfer and lose a year of playing time.

Let's actually hope Rick Pitino can still close out on the players he needs because the NIL is what many top players are loyal to and not Alma Mater.

in support of Posh to stay......kid gives it his all every game and one of the best defenders to ever wear the Red and White. Let's also not forget that last year he was consulted about Curbelo joining and supported it despite him playing the same position, because he thought it would be good for the team (obviously, it didn't work out, but give the kid credit for having the confidence).

officially tapping out of the posh and Wusu conversation.

Apparently if random posters hated on them this past season, then other posters who are completely different people are in the wrong for wanting the two of them back.

God bless.

Posh if you reading this I fought for you and still want you to come back. No matter what happens good luck

I attend just about every game and you see things live that you don't see on TV. I've seen Posh pick himself up off the floor time after time after getting the crap beat out of him and keep coming and never quit. He stays after games sometimes to sign autographs for kids and talk to them. He supports his teammates during games and his effort is ever present. Is he a perfect player? No, of course not, but for some people, myself included, effort and integrity matter and that is why I believe people who value that are rooting for Posh to stay.

I have no crystal ball on how any of this goes but however it plays out I will always be a Posh fan, whether he stays or goes!

Whether it is the player from Iona or some other transfer Posh will most likely be on the bench next season. It will be his choice whether he stays or leaves.

End of day I ride with whatever Pitino does because he is Pitino. Case closed.

That doesn't mean as fans you cannot have special affinity for certain players and want them to return in an ideal world, selfishly. Understanding it is also their choice and they may want to choose a better situation, just as Pitino has the absolute right to be honest with these kids and tell them how he envisions them fitting into the equation (or not). It would be wrong for him not to be absolutely honest with his views, even if those are going to be shaped based on whatever view he has learned from others behind the scenes, Macon and watching tape.

I don't know all the behind-the-scenes stuff, obviously. From watching the last few years, Posh is my favorite player, probably since Harrison or Hatten. Would love for it to work out. And it doesn't I'm rooting for him wherever he is next season. Same for Wusu.

Thanks for sharing this. There is literally not one bad word you can say about this kid. Gave his all from day one. Sure, some may not like his game or think we can do better than him here. And that's fine. Maybe we can.

But he's given his heart and soul to the program, been a great representation of the school, and always given 100% effort. He could have easily left for another program already. I just hope we can find a spot for him next year, would be sad to see him go.

Tell me you couldn’t play
Posh
Clayton
Timberlake
Storr
Soriano

In fact regardless, if those two transfers come I bet we see them next to another lead guard.
Here my argument:
If Storr is told to hit the bricks and Rick decides to keep Curbelo and Wusu I am good.
I like Posh. For a variety of reasons he was terrible last year. Whatever Pitino decides to do with roster, even if not my preference I have faith in. Got the guy we wanted, don’t see point of debating who stays and goes.
Because it will linger and what is the point.
