2023-24 Roster

We'll see. I could be way wrong but I just don't see how he gets any meaningful minutes this season if everybody's healthy. Would require an 11 man rotation and even then he's still probably the 4th wing on the depth chart.

That said, no teams stay healthy all season long and there will be guys that miss games due to injuries this year. In that event, having an experienced guy like Conway that can come in and make some shots and play smart basketball makes him an asset.

Pure speculation but I do believe he signed up here knowing he'll have a small role but that Pitino will help him land in a good spot overseas after the season.
Or start planting the seeds to join the Pitino coaching fraternity

The one advantage Conway has is that he’s physically ready to play at the college level. He looks like he’s in great shape, 6’5”/215 is a grown man even at this level. His game also seems better suited to be a role player than a main option, so he could actually be more efficient than he was at VMI. I think he’ll be in the rotation, looking at RP past teams it looks like he plays 10 guys at least 10 minutes a game. If that’s the case I think Conway is apart of that.

He was never the main option at VMI either especially when Stephens was there. I suppose it’s possible he gets 10 or so mins per game but that would directly cut into Dunlap’s mins imo

Regardless he’ll have less on his plate and can focus more on his strengths as a shooter and rebounder. I think at least early in the season he’ll play over Dunlap. You have the right idea though looks like Conway v Dunlap competing for minutes.

Just my prediction:
Soriano, Luis, Taylor, Dingle, Jenkins starters

6th man Alleyne

Zuby primarily backs up Soriano but occasionally gets some run at 4

Slazinski comes in for Taylor or Luis and basically rotates the forward with those 2 depending on matchups

Davis and Conway battle for 9th man minutes with other scooping up whatever 10th man mins there are.

Eventually, hopefully Dunlap grabs Davis/Conway minutes

Hardly, I just find people who choose to talk in absolutes about things they know little about entertaining. And oh by the way, that was kidding around the same way my post you chose to take so seriously was. Have a good one………….
I haven't checked this thread in a few days because I knew that once the roster was filled out, pretty much the only thing being talked about was who is going to start, roles and how much PT each of the players are going to get.

Invariably there will be a number of posters who post the usual "I really think ____ is going to surprise a lot of people". You can bank on that being said about every player on the roster, probably numerous times.

As is always the case, we'll have some players who surprise us in a good way, and some in a bad way.

But at the end of the day, I'm confident we'll be dancing next March.

As I said, I kinda posted the original thought as a joke, to me the beauty of sports is in the absolute NOT knowing, not throwing out SWAGs, different strokes………………

That’s why we practice and play the games! Nothing is predetermined! No AI will interfere ! These are young athletes who are imperfect, they will succeed and they will fail! Good Coaching will increase success ratios but nobody knows how much or whom. Nice to speculate with nothing else to do but really meaningless. With that said we WILL make Tourney and win a game haha!

With Soriano, Keita, and Traore back Rick probably sees the “5” as all set or at least good enough to address later. So if you have your 5 all set with one of if not the best bigs in the league, then RP needs to find 6-7 guards/wings/forwards that fit his style. Maybe that’s some of the guys we already have but if not, I really have no concern that
RP can’t go get those guys.

This is going to be an incredibly interesting and exciting next few months.
Now what are we supposed to do? Sit around and wait for high school commits?

Is Davis basically the backup PG (10 mpg), or will Dingle play both 1 & 2, limiting Davis min ?

From what I saw of Davis was basically a 2. Btw I liked his game in the limited mins he played.
I think when Jenkins sits Dingle will be primary ball handler. Alleyne comes in for both guards.

Maybe our starters will be based on the opponents starting lineup.

I think speculating is great. As logen referenced there those posters who speak in absolute terms, and then run and hide when things don't pan out the way they insisted that they would. But I guess that's easy to do when you can hide behind the veil of anonymity.

I don’t think anyone could do anything but speculate about our players since outside of Soriano and Alleyne no one has seen any of the other kids play more than 2 of 3 times.
