As soon as i read Jenkins rates higher then Posh I knew who put it without even scrolling up to double check
I really admire all the posters who can predict minutes, who’s not playing, etc, etc., etc. It really saves Pitino a lot of time not bothering to have players earn minutes; the guys from Iona who shared that as his MO are going to be happily or not so much surprised.
He brought them in on the weight of his "name". Finally, we have an unfair advantage over most schools.

It’s coaching ability and player development. That is the advantage.

That is next level finding reasons to criticize other posters. Off-season, that is what fans do. Lineups, batting orders, rotations. I just don't know who he is gonna be able to defend at this level. If he's on the floor against a team like Villanova they are just going to attack him every possession.
I love being on this side of an “unfair” advantage.
Minutes played will be determined by how these players perform in practice. It makes little sense to play guys the long length that the prior roster played. The bigger the rotation the more competent the role players will become. It's a fine balance. Pitino will find it.
The games where the refs are having a horrible night, we'll need to have good players that can perform coming off the bench.

But if his shot is falling, he will not come out. That will tax a team like Villanova on their defensive end. Pitino will figure out a way to mix and match on defense.
It will be wonderful to watch a master mixing and matching during games trying to get an advantage, when his original plan is not working. That is an element we have not had to our advantage in a long time.

Dingle and Soriano will be on the court most of the time. Until a clear cut 3rd option emerges, 3-10 guys will depend on matchups and how performing I imagine.
I agree Knight. I also think that Pitino is such a master at coaching that he will be identifying mismatches and/or weaknesses of the opponent and will play guys accordingly in order to exploit the mismatches and the other team’s weaknesses. He will probably have a core 3 or 4 guys and the others minutes will be determined by performance in practice along with how certain players strengths match up against the team that we are playing on a given night.

Is this your first day on a sports forum? Isn’t it the whole point to have fun speculating with people who have the same meaningless and arbitrary interests?

I read every post on every forum starting with “In my opinon” and ending with “but what the hell do I know.” I know that’s how intend all my posts to be read, but I don’t want to have to add that 5,000x.
Not one poster has even half the basketball knowledge Pitino has, so I think we all trust him to make the best decisions.

We'll see. I could be way wrong but I just don't see how he gets any meaningful minutes this season if everybody's healthy. Would require an 11 man rotation and even then he's still probably the 4th wing on the depth chart.
That said, no teams stay healthy all season long and there will be guys that miss games due to injuries this year. In that event, having an experienced guy like Conway that can come in and make some shots and play smart basketball makes him an asset.
Pure speculation but I do believe he signed up here knowing he'll have a small role but that Pitino will help him land in a good spot overseas after the season.
