2023-24 Roster

These transfer lists are a complete joke. It would be far more accurate if everyone entered the transfer portal at the same time, but that’s not the case. The people who makes these lists haven’t even seem 2/3’s of these players actually play and they just fit them in on the move as they enter the portal.
Did you read it? They put a lot of time into this and I think its fairly accurate.

That's what the Mets did in 1962 with the expansion draft. How did that work out for them? I'll tell you how it worked out, it worked out to the tune of 40-120. ;) :) (y) 🤪:ROFLMAO:
If you remember correctly, the Mets and Colt 45's (Astros) had to choose from the dregs the other teams put out there. In this case, Pitino chose from the top players in the portal. The NIL kept many from trying their luck in the NBA draft. I think we did pretty well overall.

Pitino could not just choose them, he had to sell them SJU over other schools with much more recent success. This was not a draft where everyone gets a turn.

And it wasn’t like he was swimming in NIL money ready to out bid the other schools either.

Houston went for the younger players, while Mets grabbed the older players, past their prime, for name value, especially old Dodgers.

Team sort of reminds me of 87/88 team.
One good front court player left over from previous year: Shelton Jones-Soriano

Two imported guards, one of which was prime target, the other kind of fell in their lap:
Boo Harvey/Michael Porter- Dingle/Jenkins

Now Pitino is a better coach than Louie, but the 87/88 team also had Jayson Williams. Next year team should have better depth than 87/88 team and better shooting.
Ultimately going to come down to Dingle and Jenkins. Boo was a little disappointing that first season but Porter was probably a pleasant surprise.
If Dingle is as advertised and Jenkins game translates to better comp than maybe my prediction of getting in and winning one game could be the floor.
Respectfully, I think they are two totally different teams. Shelton was a very good player, but very different than Soriano -- who is bigger, a better rebounder and I think hungrier overall. Separately, I loved the San Jacinto connection. With that said, while they could be electrifying, BH was under 6' and MP was at most 6' 1". Dingle and Jenkins are taller and more physical guards. It's also very hard to compare Jayson Williams and Matt Brust with Alleyne (sp?), Luis and Taylor. And I don't believe there was anyone on the 87/88 team comparable to Zuby. It's hard to know how this year's team will ultimately perform, but I think, at least on paper, it's a much more dangerous group.

Just meant how team was constructed was similar. Obviously players different and how this team was constructed there is really no exact comparison because it has never been done before.

Conway is going to play. He brings toughness, smarts, and an ability to shoot.

He is going to the the culture changer after the last 4 years of undisciplined ball, well maybe the last 2 decades.
Why Bill, you mean to say cross court passes, no inbound plays, wild heaves at the basket, poor free throw shooting, bad Court balance and giving up the baseline weren’t your thing? 🤔😂😂

Conway is not getting significant minutes. Maybe in spots here or there, but he is not going to be a regular part of the rotation. In the backcourt he's behind Dingle, Alleyne, Jenkins, and maybe even Davis on the depth chart. At wing he's behind Taylor Jr. and Luis. I'd be shocked if he averages more than 5-10 MPG.

At this juncture, it’s not wise to write anyone off. It’s gonna be about who fits in CRP’s system best.

5-10 min/ game is 13-25% of the game... not bad...
