2023-24 Roster

First crack at minutes distribution against a good team assuming everybody healthy and all that stuff.

Dingle - 34
Soriano - 28
Jenkins - 25
Alleyne - 25
Luis - 22
Taylor Jr - 20
Slazinski - 20
Zuby - 16
Dunlap - 6
Davis - 4
Conway - 0
Traore -

Clearly Rick loaded up w experience out of gate for immediate success. I like that, while still recognizing 2024 roster will be a challenge. No sense betting against Rick in any event though.
That's what the Mets did in 1962 with the expansion draft. How did that work out for them? I'll tell you how it worked out, it worked out to the tune of 40-120. ;) :) (y) 🤪:ROFLMAO:

The full roster is up on the website minus Zuby. Probably be added tomorrow.

What is interesting is all the kids we thought were grad transfers (Jenkins, Conway, Alleyne and Slazinski) are listed that way. But Dingle is listed as a Junior.

They list Dunlap has a freshman (incoming) but then they list Ayo as a freshman (which he was at Iona).

I just think the interns don’t have a clue. Trying not to look into classes anymore

I think people are underestimating how much Dunlap will play. No doubt as a true freshman he will start slowly. Not suggesting he is going to see “heavy“ minutes but I think he will progress slowly into a part time role. He’s a good recruit and a big part of the following season. (2024) He has a reputation as a shooter. That skill will play.

Just a feeling that RP wants him with some game experience given what the future roster will look like.

Final Roster. Years remaining in ()

PG - Jenkins (1)
SG - Dingle (1)
SF - Luis (3)
PF - Slazinski (1)
C - Soriano (1)
Bench - Alleyne (1)
Bench - Ejiofor (3)
Bench - Taylor Jr (2)
Bench - Dunlap (4)
Bench - Conway (1)
Bench - Davis (3)
Bench - Sadiku (3)
Bench - Traore (3)

Slawinski looks like a good candidate to receive a medical redshirt for last year.

Rick will be able to go big guard hunting for the next 10 months.

Jamal Mashburn Jr.

I know if I was his coach I’d force him to play his final year at a higher level than New Mexico. He literally has nothing to prove or gain there after this season. He could step in and take the role Dingle carved out here.

This is going to count for/against your batting average. Larry’s keeping track. I hope this one’s a hit.

I feel shaky after missing the Daniss Jenkins junior year JUCO so I should probably go with something safer but it just makes too much sense all around.

Mash Sr. and Pitino are extremely close and business partners…and Mash Jr has just been too good for too long at that level. Demarcus Cousins tried to come back to UK as a soph and Cal wouldn’t let him. Carmelo had a similar story with Boeheim.

I certainly don’t think it’s as far fetched as others seemingly did the first time you brought it up.

The Taylor signing to me really signaled a change in direction. From there the way Rick has finished off this class is truly amazing. Nothing but excitement and expectation building from now until tip. And with Zuby, and most importantly Dingle, I think it’s all warranted.

Yes. 👏

Team sort of reminds me of 87/88 team.
One good front court player left over from previous year: Shelton Jones-Soriano

Two imported guards, one of which was prime target, the other kind of fell in their lap:
Boo Harvey/Michael Porter- Dingle/Jenkins

Now Pitino is a better coach than Louie, but the 87/88 team also had Jayson Williams. Next year team should have better depth than 87/88 team and better shooting.
Ultimately going to come down to Dingle and Jenkins. Boo was a little disappointing that first season but Porter was probably a pleasant surprise.
If Dingle is as advertised and Jenkins game translates to better comp than maybe my prediction of getting in and winning one game could be the floor.

If you like rankings check this out:

Talk about a upgrade at pg. Jenkins ranked 65 on list list, Posh 134.

The major upgrade at pg is going to be huge for this team. It was a huge problem last year.

These transfer lists are a complete joke. It would be far more accurate if everyone entered the transfer portal at the same time, but that’s not the case. The people who makes these lists haven’t even seem 2/3’s of these players actually play and they just fit them in on the move as they enter the portal.
