2022 Yankees

Maybe now everyone can get off the Cortes Cy Young bandwagon. Lots of very hard contact tonight. Rays went to school on him. Cortes and Schmidt let a .181 hitter go yard on them 3 times. And Gallo still sucks

game 67. tough one run road loss.
game ended when $99 hit one to the start of warning track.
strays had 4 chix-fil-as (one was the 3rd shortest this year in mlb) to yanks one getty.
nasty wasn't.

Why wasn’t Judge in the starting lineup against one of the division’s better teams?

Cortes has had 3 off outings all year. One against the White Sox (which he won), the Minnesota game, and Tuesday night.

Both that game, and the Chicago game, were his second straight outings against the same team. Maybe that's something the Yankees should try and avoid with him, in the future.

I really don't understand how Gallo is still playing. It's not like he's make 20mil a year.

I think at best he is a defensive replacement/PH.
I would rather see Andujar on the roster. In his short stint he looked pretty comfortable in left field and was hitting better than Gallo.

Houston:
Altuve 2B
Brantley DH
Bregman 3B
Alvarez LF
Tucker RF
Gurriel 1B
Dubon SS
Siri CF
Maldonado C

YANKEES:
LeMahieu 3B
Judge CF
Rizzo 1B
Stanton DH
Torres 2B
Hicks LF
Kiner-Falefa SS
Trevino C
Gallo RF

How can they NOT give Andujar a shot ? Mind boggling decisions sometimes keeping a Gallo over an Andujar!
The Yankees played to a 103-win pace last year, after acquiring Gallo. To say nothing of their record this year.

If Andujar were to replace him, then this lineup begins to look a lot more like last year's did. Very righty heavy, and easy to pitch to. It wouldn't quite be that way, not with Rizzo aboard, but it would be closer to last year's group, at least the one prior to the trade deadline.

In a strange way, even while not producing much of anything, Gallo has helped this team, just by being here. I'm usually big on the numbers, but they don't always tell the whole story.

Just platoon them, give time to L-R matchups. I can’t believe they let Gallo hit last night in 9th inning. He did make a nice catch in RF though. I like his D , just a dud at bat.

You could do that, although the Yankees would likely go into panic mode, if they had to go with one less pitcher.

As for Gallo's D, he looks much more comfortable in RF, as compared to LF. The problem is that Stanton is the same way, so there's a bit of a logjam there. Obviously, having the DH helps.

The presence of Gallo does nothing to make the Yanks too righty heavy. He’s an out. Andujar can hit, but is not the defender that Gallo is.
