I think sjc88 was there tonight ? Bill ?Bad start but good ending for Peterson. Shows the mental toughness that permeates Buck's team.

Holy smokes what an Amazing job they did with the Old Timers event. A little bit from ALL the different eras. Very touching that they included Seaver’s family and Buddy Harrelson’s family. I was actually choked up seeing John Stearns. Well let’s just say he’s not healthy but he seemed to really enjoy the event. I don’t think he wanted to leave. The Willie Mays announcement retiring his number was long past due.I think sjc88 was there tonight ? Bill ?
Greg, would love to. She was there at the game. I suspect we might be down in October. Hopefully we get some October baseball to worry about. We can make our own Mets bar down there. More of a College football crowd though. My neighbor down there is a Jersey transplant who also loves the Mets. He had me over his house for the 4th of July and he had a huge TV with the Mets game on.Bad start but good ending for Peterson. Shows the mental toughness that permeates Buck's team.

My favorite celebrity gaffe in recent memory. Arod and Jennifer Lopez pushing the fake (wrong) narrative and then parroted by ESPN that JLo would enhance the potential purchase of the Mets because she would be the 1st “female“ owner of a MLB team. Apparently ignoring the FACT that Joan Payson was the very original majority owner of the team they were looking to purchase. Joan Payson is the very reason the NY Mets exist today. Bill Shea was the visionary but Joan Payson was the heart and the money. Sometimes you can’t make this stuff up. Ignorance is bliss. We dodged that bullet. Thanks to Steve Cohen.Joan Payson was a legend.
The only person on the NY Giants exec board to vote against the move to SF and then majority owner of the Mets.
She loved her teams.
I think we finally have another owner who loves his team too.
Thanks, Bill! I'm looking forward to seeing you and your bride again.Greg, would love to. She was there at the game. I suspect we might be down in October. One would hope
He is great. I sent him an emailing thanking him for the column and received a great reply.Mike Vacc is perhaps best sports writer in modern era;
Mets deliver perfect Willie Mays tribute with surprise number retirement at Old-Timers’ Day
The Mets did more than retire a famous baseball number Saturday afternoon, stunning a nostalgia-nourished crowd at Citi Field when it was revealed that Willie Mays’ 24 would formally be retired.nypost.com
