A lousy 1B who played mostly in the NL but he hit a ton of home runs. He led the NL in OPS his 30 year old season which would get him a pretty good contract in today's world.
I was at a seat cushion giveaway at a Shea game years ago. Mets were down something ridiculous like 8-0. 9th inning, Kingman launched a bomb that basically went over the foul pole. A totally meaningless blast. Fans started throwing the cushions on the field. Game was delayed several minutes as they scooped the cushions off the field. They had to beg people to stop throwing them.
