2022 Mets

So now we have Cincy OF Tyler Naquin who adds better depth to the lineup than Jankowski.

It's a good move, provides more flexibility. But we need more.

What we need in the stretch:

-First the status quo: Let's not forget, we have had a good thing going. So first for starting pitchers to continue their excellence and stay healthy. And second for our redhot players this season Pete, Marte, Lindor, etc to continue raking.

-DeGrom to be effective and stay healthy - not looking or expecting dominance.

-Tylor Megill to come back and transition to the pen.

-A big bat at DH or C, which is why Contreras seems like a perfect fit.

-Quality veterans bullpen arms whether it comes in Roberston with Contreras or somewhere else.

-More Guillorme, less Escobar at 3rd.

Great post. Escobar should play against lefties and sit versus righties.

I mean he's better what we got but that is not saying anything. They need to address the pen. I hope they make a splash for a hitter but if they add a 7th and 8th inning reliever they going to the WS. Max and Jake/Walker/Bassit with an A bullpen = 4 games in 7

They need a bat in the worst way.
We have two nice additions to the lineup in the past week.
But we need a significant offensive upgrade at DH or C, which is why Conteras is a perfect fit.

The season Diaz is having during his contract year is remarkable.

Diaz always had good stuff. But (like many players) he was having a hard time coming from a smaller market like Seattle to NY.

Also, he was never accepted by many in the fan base because he was traded with an unpopular Cano. And since fans fall in love with prospects, they had Kelenic as the next superstar OF.

Once that stuff was flushed from his system, Diaz was just able to pitch. Doing this in NY, in the middle of a division race has earned Diaz a very large contract.

Nimmo was extremely excited after hitting the homer--saw him in post game interview and he was still sky high saying he fely he had let the team down lately. He and Guillorme have been the biggest surprises to me; both playing well at plate and in the field.

Bassitt after first 2 innings really settled down and gave 6 innings.

What a team performance against Alcantara. More hits than any team this year and ran his pitch count up quickly.

Love Nimmo (and not just because his last name ends in a vowel).
He just exudes energy, hustle and is a great teammate.

Another win and a possible sweep tomorrow. The Mets are heating up again. Everyone is contributing. Carrasco is on a roll and was lights out. Lugo's back. Escobar is heating up. Season high 26 games over 500%. Even JD hit a monster HR. All the wheels are turning. I'm looking forward to the 5 game series with the Braves next week. This is going to be fun!!!

I really Hope JD gets going and they can keep him around. I hope next time he DHs they move him up in the order. Sometimes when guys are struggling and they bat you eighth in the order you have the confidence of an eighth place hitter and we all know half of hitting is 90% mental.

That would be ideal, but since Tuesday is the trade deadline, I still think the Mets cannot afford to wait for Davis to get going.

There are some cheap (in terms of asking price) players who can be the righty DH (I wonder if San Francisco is willing to trade our old friend Wilmer Flores)?

We should all be ready for movement in the next couple of days, especially in the bullpen.
It would not be surprising if the Mets add three relievers since Smith is injured.

The Mets are in a spot to go for it, but it may not be sexy moves. The Braves model from last year of adding depth on the bench and the pen is the way to go.
