Agree. Good pick up but need a good reliever and a right handed hitter. I think they will get them. Hopefully it works out well.So now we have Cincy OF Tyler Naquin who adds better depth to the lineup than Jankowski.
It's a good move, provides more flexibility. But we need more.
Great post. Escobar should play against lefties and sit versus righties. What we need in the stretch:
-First the status quo: Let's not forget, we have had a good thing going. So first for starting pitchers to continue their excellence and stay healthy. And second for our redhot players this season Pete, Marte, Lindor, etc to continue raking.
-DeGrom to be effective and stay healthy - not looking or expecting dominance.
-Tylor Megill to come back and transition to the pen.
-A big bat at DH or C, which is why Contreras seems like a perfect fit.
-Quality veterans bullpen arms whether it comes in Roberston with Contreras or somewhere else.
-More Guillorme, less Escobar at 3rd.
They need a bat in the worst way.I mean he's better what we got but that is not saying anything. They need to address the pen. I hope they make a splash for a hitter but if they add a 7th and 8th inning reliever they going to the WS. Max and Jake/Walker/Bassit with an A bullpen = 4 games in 7
Vogs is growing on me like a ZeppoleDiaz strikes out the side on 10 pitches - and the 9th was barely touched by the Marlins batter.
Big question about Vogs--will he ever hit his weight?? If he did, he could challenge for the batting title.Vogs is growing on me like a Zeppole
Love Nimmo (and not just because his last name ends in a vowel).Nimmo was extremely excited after hitting the homer--saw him in post game interview and he was still sky high saying he fely he had let the team down lately. He and Guillorme have been the biggest surprises to me; both playing well at plate and in the field.
Bassitt after first 2 innings really settled down and gave 6 innings.
What a team performance against Alcantara. More hits than any team this year and ran his pitch count up quickly.
That would be ideal, but since Tuesday is the trade deadline, I still think the Mets cannot afford to wait for Davis to get going.I really Hope JD gets going and they can keep him around. I hope next time he DHs they move him up in the order. Sometimes when guys are struggling and they bat you eighth in the order you have the confidence of an eighth place hitter and we all know half of hitting is 90% mental.
